How difficult is it to make a res at VB if it is not your home resort?

Also what kind of activities are there, both for adults and children? Is there any kind of camp for children? Maybe this is selfish but it would be nice for part of the trip for DH and I to do something on our own.

What is the weather like? Is it typically warmer than Orlando? What is the best season to go?

Can you still purchase there?

I'll try to answer a few of your questions. We have only been once and that was last June but we are returning this August. We love the summer monthes!!!! VB is still selling. Yes, there are several options for kids activities to give you and the DH time alone. They offer an evening thing for 3 hours, I believe. There are also craft classes, scavenger hunts, etc to keep them pre-occupied. We had a grand ole time!!!

Vero is not our home and last year we changed our vacation plans less than 6 months before our trip to include Vero. We were able to get what we wanted; I called mid-Jan for an early June trip.

We had a great time there; the kids loved the ocean and the pool area. We did not use the kid activities, but there were lots scheduled. We did the campfire sing a long and made s'mores one night. Kids had fun. I got eaten up by those noseeums; I had over 40 bites on my legs from that one night. The weather was great then, had a major afternoon thunderstorm one evening, otherwise just great.

They offered an open house in the afternoon at one of the beach cottages so you could check it out and meet with a sales rep if you wanted. The cottage was magnificent!

I wish I could convince DH to include Vero again this year, but he wants to do other things this trip. It is a lovely resort and we really enjoyed our visit there last year.

I'll try to handle these ones. ;)

Yes, in the cooler months Vero will be warmer than Orlando. Vero is the start of the tropical part of the Florida. However, in the warmer months, Vero benefits from the ocean breezes that landlocked Orlando doesn't receive.

The "prime" time for Vero as a tourist area is Feb-Apr, or snowbird season. However, with many folks combining a Vero and Disney vacation with their children summer is popular at the Disney resort but not the rest of the area. Ordinarily, summer is a time to get out of Florida but many people here have reported enjoying their summer vacations in Vero.

There are two restaurants and a lounge with entertainment for adults. The surrounding area also has a live theater, many restaurants, outlet shopping and a mall. Fishing and golf are also popular Vero activities.

My sister was able to get a 2brm at VB at the 7 month window for this July. There were no dedicated 2brms left but they were able to get a 1bdrm/studio lockoff. Is that right Queen Anne?

I had no problems at all booking 7 months out! This is our first trip to Vero! We are very excited!

We booked two nights in a 1-bedroom at Vero for May about 6 months out with no trouble. As a matter of fact I just called a week or so ago and added another night with no problem at all. That was only 4 months out. I'm sure that there are some popular times that may be more difficult. The cottages may be harder to get at certain times of the year too.

We have booked 3 trips to Vero. Once we booked an Inn room for Labor Day weekend with no notice at all - maybe a week or two.

Last year we booked 3 nights in a Beach Cottage in March with 5 months notice.

This year we booked 3 nights in a Beach Cottage in July with 7 months notice.

We just returned from our second stay at Vero - last Thursday and Friday. We booked an Ocean View inn room with only 3 months notice, but I was told that we got the last one. We were on the third floor and had a nice ocean view.

A couple FYIs on Vero - the open house in the beach cottage is no longer there. We toured it last Feb when we stayed at Vero and I asked a cast member about it this trip - he said that the sales operation has moved to Orlando because Vero is 98% sold out. I haven't double-checked this number with my guide. Maybe someone else knows. Anyway, don't plan on attending the open house at Vero!

And they are in the midst of painting the inn and the cottages. The painters were on our balcony the first day there. Not sure how long until they finish, but the fresh coat of paint looks nice and we thought everything looked well cared for. We got a little painted turtle magnet as a gift for being inconvenienced! :)

WiseGirl thanks for the update on Vero! Glad to hear you had a nice stay.....too bad that we don't get to go play in the cottage anymore but at least it frees another one up for rental. :)

That must have just happened. We were there 11/29 - 12/2 and we had coffee in one of the Beach Houses. The CM even gave my 16 month old nephew a big beach ball. He was just thrilled!

We're going back again on 2/14 and we'll be disappointed that we can't show our guests the view from the cottages - it was truly awesome.

Thanks for the update, WiseGirl.

Thats why we added on at VB, for the 11 month window in the wintertime, and the Beach Cottages. We booked a 1BR for 6 nites during the July 4th week this summer, and had to be waitlisted for 1 day, so our last day we have a studio. We booked this at the 7 month window because we hadn't added VB points at that time. Now we are glad we have the 11 month window there also!!!!!!:D

The view from the beach cottage is amazing! I'm glad we got to see it last year at the open house because we'll probably never book one. We don't own at Vero (yet anyway!), but I really love the resort. We stayed there after our recent 4 night Wonder cruise and it was a relaxing change of pace before we headed home. Weather was perfect and the waves and ocean were great. Of course we're northerners so we don't think it is cold. :D I thought about trying to talk my husband into adding on there and was disappointed to find that the sales people were gone. I guess I better act quickly if we are to add on at Vero!
