How difficult is it for you to decide on the resort?

I have such a hard time for each of our vacation to figure out where to stay. I always end up making several changes to our trips, dates, resorts, etc. Finally for one of my reservations due to POFQ relocation, a Disney supervisor told me whatever was made tonight would be IT.

Am I the only one having such a hard time deciding where to stay? I don't have any particular favorites and love to explore. Disney has so many deluxe resorts and everyone of them seem fun for different reasons.

Do you have a difficut time in choosing and do you make many changes to your Disney reservations?

It almost seems everyone is set on whichever resort they have in mind and looking forward to the trip, while I am always unsure where we should stay. DH thinks whereever we stay is fine and can't understand why it is such a big deal.

Any input?

Looking at where you have stayed, do any of them seem more special to you? It might be that you have to stay at all of them and then reflect on which one felt the best for you.

Another approach is to think about who is on the trip, what activities/parks you are likely to go to the most and then make the appropriate resort choice.

I know for the 2nd part of my reservation I changed from POR then to WL then to CR hoping Spectro and FITS would occur during my CR and with some pixie dust the schedule changed and DS and I will be one set of happy campers.

I was in the same boat as you. I made about 6 reservations and had put down three or four deposits down and kept changing my mind, because after I put the deposit down, I would find out about another resort that had better features and change. Finally, it came to my attention that for a good rate for my Dec 26 to Jan 3 I could stay at the Swan in a club level conceirge room with a king bed and view facing epcot. This is exactly what I was looking for and have not changed my mind since and won't.

You will come apon the right resort.

First we figure out our what our budget can afford, then we check if discounts are available, and THEN we decide which resort by what atmosphere excites us the most, and when we what time of the year it is. We tend to like the tropical resorts in the summer and the others in the fall and winter months.

If our budget allows we try the deluxes... only have been able to stay at those twice, and they were with good discounts. We stayed in the WL and the Contemporary.

Otherwise we stay in the moderates. We haven't yet stayed in a value resort, but wouldn't rule it out--- I think I would like the AS-Movies, or perhaps Pop Century 1960's.

Our favorite moderate is PO-FQ, but since that is closed, I would opt for CBR. Reason is we like the slightly larger rooms, the atmosphere and the pool bar...lol! We have also stayed at PO-R, and would normally consider it, too, but with renovations going on, we would probably stay elsewhere. We haven't been overly impressed with CSR when we have visited there.

Our favorite deluxe so far is the Contemporary, but I am dying to stay in the Poly and the Beach Club (would have to get REALLY good rates, though). AKL is nice, but DH thinks it is inconvenient, and I am not much for dark decor like WL or AKL.

It really is a difficult decision, but see what they offer in the way of upgrades and choose the one you figure you will NEVER see that type of rate again, and splurge a little!

jaw62901, what you said struck a cord. That was it. One of the reservations that I have is for an Octoboer trip staying at GF. I have not since made any changes to it. Same with Swan for Xmas. I don't think I could get better deal than what I currently have for Swan without going through hotwire or priceline. I am only making changes for the August trip. You are right, once you pick the right resort, you know it.

I used to have the hardest time making a decision about where to stay (before I knew about these boards and discount codes!) I would make our reservation for one place (BWI several times), then I would start thinking, "I am NOT paying that much for a place to just to sleep!". Then I would call and change my ressie to a mod! No more! I can usually find a good deal now. This upcoming trip we rented points from a DVC Member, so we won't be making any changes there!

Right now, I'm trying to work my way around the deluxes. So, the decision making process is only as hard as deciding where to stay on our next trip--which is not that hard at all since we want to try them all! Must decide between WL and AKL for May '04!

I'm planning a quick 5 night getaway for myself and a friend in September, and am really struggling with the resort choice. Since we're only staying for 5 nights (vs the usual 7 or 8 night stay) we feel we can afford to spend a bit more on the hotel. Now, I have never stayed in a deluxe, only moderates, and am really stuck on what to do. We stayed at CBR last time and really liked it. One of the best things we liked was the quiet pool- we really enjoyed hanging out there, and my concern with the deluxes is that the pools may be too crowded. I need to do more research on the quiet pools at the deluxes to see what might work for us.

Anyway, this is a good problem to have. I just don't know why it seems to be more difficult this time. Previous trips the resort choice was a breeze- I think because I am strongly considering a deluxe I just want to make sure it has what we want, since the moderates have been so great for us in the past. Every time I have to make this choice my dh says to me..."My God!!! You're sleeping there for 7 nights, not buying it forever!!!" Guess he has a point..but since I only get there every 2 yrs. I want it to be perfect. So, we're moving up to WL from POR (which we loved) and hoping for a nice code to come out. But I really do agonize over my choices. This time I had 3 different resorts booked at one time!
