How did you save money today?

HEY..... I had to search all the way to page 6 to find this thread! That's sad!

You must be shopping at Market Basket right? :)

YUP! You must be in NE as well!:thumbsup2

Bragging a bit on my savings at Target today. I'll NEVER be one of those extreme coupon folks, but I did pretty well today.

First of all, I met two folks on my way to Target to sell items from a FB yard sale, so arrived at Target with $9 extra in my pocket (not much, but worthwhile since I was able to combine the trips).

Then I had remembered to take the time to update my Cartwheel and check my existing Target coupons to try to find manuf. coupons to go with them. Then I was able to combine some of the coupons and cartwheel AND sales and a "buy 3 get one free" and a "get a $5 gift card" deal..... so overall it was a great savings day for me. My total upfront cost before coupons was $164.30 and after coupons and using the $5 gift card it came down to $129.64 PLUS I got two free frozen pizzas ($9 value).

This trip gave me enough toilet paper and tissues to last a few months, enough paper towel to potentially get me through the year (we use very little), cat treats to last for months, enough frozen pizzas (the only "convenience" food I buy) to last DS through many weekends, plus lots of other grocery and toiletry items and some Easter basket items.

My good coupon Karma smiled down on me (I always try to leave coupons with items that they go with, if I am not going to use them) and I got a higher value coffee coupon than what I already had.

And to top it off, the cashier had a "$5 off a $30 purchase" coupon that I wasn't familiar with and scanned it for me!!

How are you all doing saving money today?.................P

ETA: Forgot to mention.... stopped to fill my gas tank, since I noticed that the price had dropped about 4 cents a gallon recently and used my coffee punch card to treat myself to a FREE decaf for the ride home!

Had to spend money to save money today, but I did save money!! When I hit Target the other day for my big shop with coupons, I had TOTALLY forgotten about a 5% Pharmacy Rewards that I had on hand!!:headache: So of COURSE, I had to go to Target again!!:rotfl2:

I obviously didn't need paper goods after my last big shop, so I had to think hard about what else I needed. Here are some of my BETTER Target deals today....

Had a $1 for any Seventh Generation cleaning supply.... and found a microfiber duster on the clearance endcap for $2.08!! Had a coupon for $1.50 off of 2 Archer Farms pizzas and they were on sale 2/$9 AND buy 3 get 1 free!

Found a cute green LED flashlight on clearance from $8.99 down to $4.14 for my DD's Easter basket! BTW, they also had Tinkerbelle flashlights on clearance if anyone is looking for something like that!

Used a text message coupon for more shampoo (some special more expensive stuff) for my DD's Easter basket also... so it was like getting one bottle for free!

Also combined coupons and Cartwheel on mixed nuts, Crest 3D whitening supplies, M&Ms (for Easter) Cascadian Farms granola bars, and a few other things!

And then, of course, I got my 5% off on all of this. It wasn't exactly a "as seen on Extreme Couponers" tv, but I was pleased (again) with my savings!

I saved almost $23 with coupons, got several free items (pizza, M&Ms), and bought a bunch of stuff for Easter baskets. There was VERY LITTLE that I bought that was not stuff I would normally have bought other than a few grocery items that were on sale or clearance that I chucked in the basket. My total saved through the Pharmacy Rewards was $14.37.

I also stopped at Staples and decided to take advantage of their offer where you let them check your cell phone upgrade availability and you get a coupon for $5 off anything. Absolutely NO high pressure, no sales pitch.... just a "the date you can upgrade is XXX and this is what we have available for phone right now." Easy peasy! I used my $5 for a package of Command Adhesive hooks for DD's dorm room.... plus I discovered they had 8 packs of Mr. Clean magic erasers, normally $6.99 marked down to $3! And of COURSE the original reason I had stopped in was so that I could turn in some empty ink cartridges for recycling and get my Staples Rewards! So I have that to look forward to!

I did not stop for coffee or lunch while I was out, so no money spent there! And I had my oil changed and tires rotated with a Groupon that I bought a few months ago for a great price (probably about half off the regular price).

How is everyone else doing???...........P

I went to radio shack and bought 3 prepaid cell phones. No, that's not saving money right now, but for each one I bought, I got 6 months of free netflix service (something we already have, and pay $7.99 a month for). The phones were only $9.99 each. So I'm set for the next year in a half for netflix, and I'll resell the phones, since we don't need them.

I know this was over a month ago and might not still be available, but was this a promotion through radio shack or was it for buying a specific phone?

I'm going to try to head there after work, but just curious what exactly I should look for.

Thanks!
