The natural...his view of Roy Hobbs and that "magic is aviable" and Bernard malmaud Roy Hobbs that life is tragic... which became a novel about tiger woods
"A Walk In The Woods" is not a great movie and is not as good as the Bryson book on which it's based. But being of a certain age, I like that he was willing to have a great adventure and it also gave him a better appreciation for what he has.
He did better movies, but that's the one that comes closest to providing a "platform" of my life.
He kept independent film alive and helped it flourish as an important part of one of the world's great art forms. The filmmakers he inspired and enabled have provided countless hours of happiness to my life.

This is my favorite quote about symbolism. Hemmingway about The Old Man and the Sea:
‘There isn’t any symbolism, the sea is the sea, the old man is an old man, the sharks are all sharks, no better nor worse. All the symbolism that people say is ****.’

There is a reason he didn't publish Garden of Eden when he was alive. If he ever came back to life, the first thing he would do is shoot the people that edited the crap they published.
