"A Walk In The Woods" is not a great movie and is not as good as the Bryson book on which it's based. But being of a certain age, I like that he was willing to have a great adventure and it also gave him a better appreciation for what he has.

He did better movies, but that's the one that comes closest to providing a "platform" of my life.

CBS morning News had a lengthy interview with a critic as it's lead story and you are observant as you were parallel with his views about redford.....and I was surprised at the length of the interview... can't wait for Jane Sunday morning

Wow..no wonder no one on the university staff has accliam... another instructor had us read gravity rainbow .. which for me required way more wheelbarrows than I had places to dump

Eden was part of graduate women studies...hester was first book... Eden second.. can't recall the third... having fascination with Ketchum I studied his childhood and got points for the Chicago museum elephant ivory and white breasts and points for addressing questions from the prof ... most in the form of criticism

Robert Redford's appeal as a leading man was more my mother's generation than mine.

That said, there was a woman at my job in my early 20s who was also of that generation and she gave me a recipe for a dessert called "The Next Best Thing to Robert Redford Cake."

That cake got rapturous reviews anytime I took it to a potluck so I'm guessing he was pretty popular.

I do know him from his bit of time in the MCU but I can't think of anything else I've seen him in. I tried to watch Three Days of the Condor a couple of months ago but it didn't grab me.

Adding on after Googling: I now remember he was in a movie I try to forget called Indecent Proposal.

He was also in a movie I loved but haven't seen in a long time called An Unfinished Life. There's a theme in that movie as he tries to kill the bear that maimed his friend but his friend, played by Morgan J. Freeman, isn't angry at the bear for simply being a bear and doing things bears do. I try to remember that sometimes when kids act like kids or hurt people act like hurt people or teenagers are simply acting like teenagers.

Your right about proposal... didn't make any of the tributes...and I was going to ask you about horse Whisperer.. but oh my.. that was 27 years ago...seemed like yesterday... sadly or perhaps otherwise the one consistent tribute to Redford that is in the top 20 movie scenes is the cliff scene
