How crazy is the traffic around Downtown Disney?

We avoided DTD area on our last two trips because of the traffic/congestion in the area. We are planning a couple of nights at DTD in December and will be relying on WDW transportation. Wondering how bad the bus ride to and from DTD is????

I've never had a bus sit in traffic going anywhere. Maybe if more buses than stops show up at the same time you might have a few minutes before you bus can pull in but it's not stuck in traffic waiting.

You can also boat from POR/POFQ if you wanted.

The past few times I have been traffic has not been awful. I feel as though they have figured out the best possible flow of getting buses to and from Disney Springs. However it's been a little over 2 months since I was last there so it may have changed.

The buses avoid the construction area, so they're not impacted too much. If traffic is really backed up, there might be a few minutes delay approaching the area. And, as a PP said, your bus might have to wait for a berth due to the overcrowded conditions at the bus loop.

How long does it take by bus to get to Disney Springs? I'm staying at Pop.

After 11:30am, around 20 minutes, + wait time (should be under 20 minutes, but can be up to 30.)

Mornings before 11:30, the bus goes to TL first and then DTD, so about 30-35 minutes + wait time.

Wait in traffic really depends on what time of day it is and what day of the week it is. I was at Disney about two weeks ago and the traffic wasn't that bad. We rode the bus. If you are going to the marketplace or Disney Springs the bus will take a back road so you will not sit in most of the traffic. AS always plan ahead ( leave early if making reservations) because most of the time is waiting for the bus then actually being on a bus.

I was just there a little more than a week ago, staying at AS Movies. I took the bus from AS Movies to Downtown Disney early Saturday evening. Boarded the bus at 5:15 pm, arrived at Downtown Disney 6:05 pm. I don't know if something was going on that particular day, but traffic was terrible!

Is there a bus stop or taxi stand near Cirque?
There's a taxi stand behind it.

There's also a boat dock, which is served by boats from OKW & SSR, and the water taxi from the Marketplace Dock. The bus stop is at the other end of DTD at the Marketplace, but you can take the water taxi from there to Cirque.

I was there last month and it was bad. I was driving my own car, not doing the buses. My first night in town (which was a Saturday) I stayed at a hotel close to the Downtown Disney hotels (but not technically one of them). So I was very close, yet it was too far and too dangerous to walk there. So even though I was no more than 2-3 miles away, it took over an hour for me to get to the parking deck. The lots across the street were both full. Now granted it was a Saturday night in July. So that's understandable really. But luckily I had allowed lots of extra time before my dinner reservation and it worked out fine for me in the end. The next morning I got there before 11 and had no problem parking quickly across the street and walking over.

I am going back in December and am hopeful that they will have made some more progress by then and that with the early December crowds it won't be too bad anyway.

Just my 2 cents on my experiences last month. :)
