I live 86 miles from the resort, and we go there whenever we have the chance. I was wondering, if there are any folks on this board that live right in the disney area. I'm talking about close enough, {within 10 miles or so} to go to the resort every day if you wanted to. Like for lunch at a favorite restaurant, or just get off from work and go see the fireworks or something like that. I suspect that being that close would cause you to get "bored" of WDW after a while. Now, I am not talking about CMs, because you have to be there 5 days a week or so, I mean guests that are disney neighbors. And, if you do get bored, where do you go for entertainment? :smooth:

Not me but I have heard of people who do do that. I would love to go to the MK after a bad day at work.

I'm actually moving to a apartment on route 192 about 5 miles out side of disney property in Kissimmee. Be great to be able to get away from the snow!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure it will also be great to go into the parks anytime. can't wait for August

Right now I am living at my parent's home which is 15 minutes from driveway to main gate, Right by Champions Gate. I would go more often, but I haven't found a job yet. My guess is, that I will definitely be there very often.

We live less than 15 minutes from WDW and go at least once a week. And yes, the magic is there for us every time.

I'm bumping my own thread. I can't believe that out of fifty some odd thousand posters, nobody else lives close to WDW. Whatta' ya say?

Unfortunately, I live way to far away from Disney. I am only able to visit every couple of year, but I certainly would love to be within 10 miles.

So, as the oringinal poster asked...........where is everyone else who lives close to Disney?

My DD lives 20 miles and I live 35 miles. We never go after work, but do go a lot. Keep in mind we also have Seaworld and US/IOA which we like a lot. MK never gets old, MGM does.
We go during the off peak times and cooler times, except this year we spent a week at WL in July. Golf is treated the same way, clubs are put away in June and dug out in October.
There is so much to do that theme parks are not always on the agenda.
The bad part is so many have moved into the area the last ten years that it is not as much fun here as it use to be. No traffic to speak of back then after tourist season. Now every place you go it is a crowd, beaches ball games, shopping and everything.

We live about an hour away, in Zephyrhills. We have the best of both worlds, halfway between Disney and the Gulf beaches. We just moved here, so the Magic is nowhere even close to wearing out! It's nice to head there for just a weekend, without having to plan flights and vacations from work.

It takes us on a good day with traffic about 30 minutes to get to Disney. We moved down last September and I used to go 3 times a week. Saturday and Sunday when DH was off work and then take the kids one day in the middle of the week. For a while there we were going to AK on an average of once a week. And we have not gotten bored. In fact, with it being so hot we haven't been going much and we go through withdrawls. Sometimes after DH gets off work we will go to Epcot to watch Illuminations or head to DTD just to get out. My DD is 5 and so far the magic is still there for her, she loves it. And we go to AK so much that some of the CM's know us by name (which makes me feel silly). And we know we are very blessed to live in such a place. Who would of known when DH got laid off last year that we would end up in Orlando.

As my name implies I am an hour away from the magic. (Not to far from LadyAurora!) We are long time Florida Residents (25 years) and have been going to the parks since 1972. I have to say, we have never gotten bored or tired of the "magic"!

I always chuckle when I read these boards and see people stressing over itineraries and going "commando" to the parks. The best thing about being so close is being able to relax and enjoy the parks for the little things.

We are Florida Seasonal Pass holders not Anuual passholders. We have the same benefits as annual passholders (except no free parking) and pay a lot less for our passes. The big difference between seasonal and annual is the blackout dates, but quite frankly the times we can not go, are the times you could not pay me to go to the parks. The summer (WAY TO HOT!), springbreak (WAY TO CROWDED) and Christmas (again the crowds!) If we do go to a park and find it's too crowded, we'll leave and go to another park.

We'll head over to EPCOT on a fall evening after school gets out and just have a blast for a few hours. We have the oppurtunity to eat at many of the restaurants and stay at many of the resorts. Best of all, no stress. We can make every visit memorable by slowing down and enjoying ourselves by just going with the flow and seeing what happens. You really should try a day of no planning in one of the parks. You'd be surprised how fun it can be when not worrying about PS's and parades and having to see everything.

Just my opinion.

Have fun!

I agree with what you posted. I have posted on other threads to look at the amazing detail of the parks. The bonus I feel is we can go and not have the stress of having to do everything, as you pointed out. On some trips we may only stay for a few hours and go back in to town for dinner before heading home. Or to catch a show/ride or two and have dinner there.

The newbies of the our area will find the real fun is when their family and/or friends come down and you get to take them to the parks. You will also learn the right times, days to go. We never go on weekends or holidays unless we have company.

As for never geting tired of it, Disney gets the credit for that as following WD original mandate for Disneyland. " It will never look old and there will always be something new to see or do".

I leave saturday for the move, so I'll be 10 mins away, i don't think the magic will wear off.

We live an hour and a half away. We have annual passes and have, on many occasions, decided around 4 or so in the afternoon to go to epcot for dinner and to see Illuminations. We love knowing we can do that for an evening and spend the same amount of money as going to a dinner and movie. I too feel very blessed to be able to go to Disney as often as we do.

ok well look to the left. My tag says it all. I am living half of this site's dream. I have an apartment right behind Magic Kingdom. I can watch the fireworks from my living room and guest bedroom windows. I can walk out my patio door take 100 paces and be on Disney property. I can get in my car and drive to the Contemporary and I have racked up 1.5 miles on my tripometer.

I went to Animal Kingdom last night at 5:00 to eat at Flame Tree BBQ and catch the 5:45 show of Lion King. I came home after that to study my American Sign Language Class. Today I'll be going to Epcot and 7:00 or 8:00.

We have vacancies and move-in specials going on right now. Anyone want to move in?? I get a referral bonus !:D No one even knows these apartments exist.

I live about 1 and 15 minutes away. I just made my first solo day trip to MK and MGM Saturday. Usually my ds and I go, or we bring other family with us. THis is the first year have Annual Passes, and we want to get our use out of them!! Haha. NExt year, though we will just get the Seasonal Passes. I do wish I lived only a few minutes away...wow that would be great...just to drive on over for dinner...LOL

Movingtoorlando, good luck with you move, I just moved here from Minnesota the beginning of June. I'm so happy here. When I need a pick me up, I just head over to the House of Mouse, and it is just what the doctor ordered. I too don't think the Magic will ever wear off.
Good luck with you move.

hi--

We are moving to the area soon (June 2004, my DH will be there). We have to start building the house in November of this year. We are looking at a community called Lakes of Windermere. It is kind of near Downtown Disney (about 5 miles) but real estate lady says it is near MK and you can see the MK fireworks. It is at stoplight of Hwy 535 and Chase Road. Still a 4 lane. I think I saw some apartments around there also.

I'm glad you dont really get too tired of WDW because I want to go a lot! Anyway, pintrader, moosymom, Floridacat, gshoemate, ladyaurora, delitefuldory, and anyone else who knows the area and lives nearby---can you please help me out by answering some questions. My email:
Lmcm2108@aol.com

Please email me if you can help. Thanks.

Lisa
