How Close to Vacation has anyone booked?

I'm planning on going to WDW on Jan 29- Feb 5. I haven't booked my room or bought my tickets yet. I was going to do it at the beginning of the month as soon as my DH got his vacation put in for work, but on New Years Day my we discovered a tumor on my dog's leg and have been waiting for the results of the biopsy for too long now. I really want to book my room and buy my tickets tomorrow, but if for some reason they still don't have the results in by then when is the quickest that anyone has booked a trip? I know that there will not be enough time for the tickets to be mailed to me so can I pick them up at the resort when we check in? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

As long as there is space you can do it as soon as you get there, lol. Last time we went it was a last minute thing. We called when we got to FL for a room and bought tickets at the gate.

It's still low attendence time so there should still be rooms available at one of the value resorts. I just get so jittery and nervous when things aren't done!

I'm driving so I won't need the disney shuttle and luggage tags. what about your tickets? did you pick them up at your resort?

You can pick up tickets at the resort.

They do need to be ordered 24 hours BEFORE you want to pick them up. There's a bit of a lag time. If you won't have that much time, don't advance purchase. Just buy them outright at the resort.

Ok. That makes me feel a lot better. I'm almost sure that I will be booking everything tomorrow which will be 15 days in advance. I just usually do all of this months in advance so I didn't know what to expect. Thanks for all of the help.

LAst trip we took was Feb 2004 for Mardi Gras (this was when we lived in New Orleans), I made reservations for everything the week before we left.

I would reccomend booking the room and asking for "Key to the World" tickets which are added onto your room key. That way, you don't have to wait for mail or stand in line at the park or resort to purchase the tickets. You have until 5 days before to cancel both room and tickets (when purchased on your room key) for a full refund (don't count the arrival day as one of the five days.) That might give you peace of mind as far as getting the resort you want. You can also add the Key to the World ticket up to the day before check in if you'd rather wait to add the tickets.
