How close to the trip can you add Magical Express?

Hi everyone!!!! My trip is in 35 days (woohoo)!!! But I have not yet booked my flights. I'm wondering how close to my trip I can add Magical Express to my reservation and still get the luggage tags in time? Even if it's too late- will I still be able to use the Magical Express to get to Disney and just pick up my own luggage? I rented points if that makes a difference. Leave jan 7!! Thank you for any help!

You can book ME up to 24 hours in advance. I would recommend 3 weeks as a minimum for the luggage tags. However, you can still have ME pick up and transport your luggage even without the tags. You will have to go to the ME counter and give them your airline luggage claim checks. They will use those to collect the luggage. I have done this twice with no problem.

Do it now. You don't have to have your flight booked to book DME.

Book it now using the flight info for the flights you think you are going to take. Then when you actually book your flights, if you don't select those, just call ME and give them the correct flight information. Easy peasy.

OP already made a reservation,for the benefit of others...you don't have to wait to make your DME reservation. Just tell the CM your flights are pending. Alternately give them the flights you hope to take. Actual flight information isn't really needed for your incoming flight and you can give DME your "real" outgoing flight information when you arrive.

Isn't that basically what I suggested just prior to OP posting that they made their arrangements with ME?! I just worded it a little differently....but same suggestion, I wouldn't mention pending. I once had a ME scheduler tell me to call back once I knew my flights and they were no longer 'pending' but definitive. That's why I suggested just giving ME the flights you plan on taking and if you change to different ones you can call back and adjust accordingly.

I wouldn't give them any flight info at all - it just makes it more likely that things will get screwed up later. Just tell them you haven't booked your flight yet.

And they would NOT let ME book when I called without ANY flight info. Maybe other people have had other experiences but I was told to pick something (by them) so that is what I did. I was sharing MY experience (which YOU cannot refute!) To save other people some time and effort from having to make UNNECESSARY multiple phone calls to ME.
I wasn't trying to pick at the other poster (hence why I used a smile face in my post) like you are trying to pick at me.

It typically isn't an issue to book without flights. If they told me that I had to, I would either call back and talk to someone else or I would do what you did and just pick something. But I don't see the point of adding an extra layer of complication if it isn't necessary.

Seriously guys? Chill out a bit. DME needs only 10 days advance notice in order to get your packet to you. I would recommend at least two weeks. It's a good idea to have flight info ready when you book. You can always give them updated return flight info when you get to WDW. That's what I had to do last night. Just give them at least 24 hrs notice for your return flight.

It's almost exactly what Alesia posted 5 hours before your post. Some people don't like to "lie" and give a hypothetical flight. Pending is the term which is used to indicate you haven't yet made your flight reservations. It could also indicate a person who's flying standby and won't have advance notice of their flight. Pending might even be enough of an answer to placate a CM who insists on an actual flight number.

Just an FYI. I booked from that link as well and it all went through. The next day I got an email back saying I couldn't use that link and would need to contact the DVC member who booked the reservation to add Magical Express.
So I did. She called for me and I was already booked and they had all my information. So just be aware you may get an email saying you need to go through the member, but check your MDE account. If you see it added to your reservation you are fine.
