How close are BRP & AAA rates?

I am planning a trip for Oct. 2006. We'll be staying 6 nights at BCV on rented points. We would like to stay our first two nights (Friday & Saturday) at AKL or WL or maybe even the Polynesian. I had planned to purchase APs for DH & me, as we had planned to go back in 2007 for an adults only trip. Now, that second trip may be a Disney Cruise instead. So, I'm wondering if I should buy one AP for the (hopeful) room discount and the ability to get the DDE card, or if I should just join AAA and use their discount.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Its probably too early to determine for 2006. This might be comparing apples and oranges, but I've seen AAA rates coming out about $10 more than BRP rates (not for the same dates....but same "season")....all depends on how getting an AP works out for you, how many nights you need etc....

Lesley is right about it being too early to determine....

Right now, the 2006 value season Best Rates are $70 off Deluxe, $40 off Moderates & $20 off value resorts. The 2005 best rates were similar......

AAA discounts for Deluxes are 15% off during value season & 10% off during the other seasons.

If Best Rates stay the same and you were planning on booking a non-concierge room, then the Best Rate would be better.

I can give you a compare for this coming November. A standard view room at POR at rack rate is $140 plus tax, the AAA rate is $120 plus tax and the rate I have as of today through the BRP is $109 plus tax. (I rounded the prices).
