How Can I Get Sick at Disney? NOOOO!!!

Last we left off DH had tried again to pull the sword from the stone and yet again he didnt complete his mission! LOL!! So we headed over to Peter Pan to use our FP. We showed up early for our return time (8:55am-9:55am) but the CM let us go ahead since it was our anniversary. Thanks! What's 3 minutes right? So we went to visit Neverland again and of course it was one of the highlights of the girls trip. They never tire of this ride nor do I. When we passed Nana the dog, Kendra had to say (again) that her Nana(my mom) has the same name as the dog and then proceeded to laugh hysterically. We're always sad when our vacay to Neverland ends but its always fun, especially when Kendra sees the Native Americans and says "HOW" each time.

After Peter Pan we headed over to ride the very popular with parents oh and the kiddies too - Its A Small World. Yea!! Not that I dont like it but its not one of my faves. Takes too long in my opinion, but the girls love it so I suck it up. When we were almost finished, I started to get the cold sweats and feel dizzy/sick again. I couldnt get off that ride fast enough. Luckily I got a coke when we were done and that settled my stomach for the time being.

Then it was time to head to DH and my fave ride @ MK - The Haunted Mansion!!! This is Kendra's least fave ride, she's terrified of it. She cries and whimpers but goes on. If you've been in line with us, Im sorry if that freaks you or your kids out!

Loving your trip report! Sorry to hear you were sick though! I know what that's like. DH got sick on our wedding/honeymoon trip. On the day of our wedding. We spent that day at Celebration hospital. Not how I planned our wedding day to be, but we got to reschedule it for later in the week. I've never seen him so sick. Turns out he had the Noro virus. Not good. But at least the hospital was super pretty.

Can't wait to read more of your trip report and see more pictures!!!! I love the teacup pictures!!

Due to my laptop's stubborness it posted before I could finish. As I was saying in the last post, we were going through the new interactive que at the HM. We had a lot of fun with it, except Kendra!

Here's Kendra before we entered the mansion:

We always enjoy riding HM but this time we really enjoyed the updated hitchhking ghosts part. DH had his head taken off and replaced with a ghost's head. That was hilarious.

After HM we took our time and walked over to Big Thunder Mtn and got FP (unfortunately we forgot we had them and later on we didnt get a chance to ride). Then we did POTC, which got me feeling queezy (sp?). I say queezy b/c somethings are better left unsaid, TMI!! By this time we had gotten to DH's favorite area: he wanted a Dole Whip float. He LOVES those things. I took a bite and sip and that was enough for my stomach. They didnt mix. So while everyone enjoyed that I sipped on my Pepto! Yea!!

At this point I started to feel like I was going to get really sick and I wanted to go back to the POP and lay down. But I was @ MK for only 1 day and I was determined to stick it out for the girls. So we headed over to Tomorrowland but of course we had to take the customary castle shots.

We got to Tomorrowland and DH took Piper to the MI/Laugh Factory while Kendra and I decided to look around. Only a few minutes later did I really feel sick so poor Kendra had to go to the bathroom with me. Fortunately for her I didnt get sick. But she was so sweet to me and acted like I was her baby while she pretended to be a mommy. I wasnt that bad but she was trying to comfort me in her best 6 year old way. Finally DH and Piper finished and we called it a morning and decided to head back to the POP. We left around 11am-ish and it was a madhouse of people coming into MK. Im so thankful that we are morning people and that we got there @ rope drop and rode all the rides we wanted with little to no wait. When we got off the monorail there was a line snaked behind the ticket center all the way up to the ramp to get on the monorail. We were shocked. We are off-season people (except this trip) and had never seen it this crowded. Dont get me started on the crowd at the ferryboat.

Back at the POP, I layed down. DH took the girls exploring, eating, playing @ the playground, swimming in the pool and then finally back to take a nap. Apparently I slept through all their comings and goings and I was next to the door! Guess I needed that sleep.

Next up: Would we make it to MK that evening to meet up with my cousin who lives in MI or would I stay in bed or I mean the bathroom? LOL!

Oh Im sorry about your DH. Glad you got to reschedule. I hardly ever get sick let alone stomach bugs. So I was shocked that I got sick and at Disney of all places!

I didnt hear them at all the times they came in and out and I didnt even feel when Piper crawled into bed next to me. Guess I needed the sleep. So when DH woke me up around 5pm I was out from under the covers and covered in sweat. I was also running a low fever so it didnt help me feel better that's for sure. DH started the shower for me, gave me some tylenol and a shot of Pepto to try and get me feeling semi-decent. It helped, again, for the time being. I felt up to eating (hadnt eaten anything since the bagel around 7am and the bite of dole-whip)and we headed off to the POP cafeteria. I made the un-wise decision to get the supreme nachos. This was the case of my head is telling me Im hungry and trying to rule over my stomach. The battle would rage on later though and Im afraid my head paid the price for the nachos! LOL! They were good the first time though!

We went back to the room, changed and headed to the bus stop to catch the bus to MK for the evening. I really wanted to meet up with my cousin from MI who I see maybe once a year and thats if I go up there. They dont seem to want to travel south unless its to Disney. Oh well, you cant change people.

I had us all wear Mickey/Minnie shirts complete with ears/hats to get our family pic taken in front of the castle for our xmas card, which turned out great by the way and Im ordering them this Friday when payday comes!! Yea!!

So we headed over to the MK and got there around 7:15pm-ish. We immediately spotted my cousin, her DH and her 2 kids. I was happy to see them but on the way over my head started throbbing and it didnt let up. My stomach was good but I couldnt even see out of my right eye it was that bad. I tried to not let it bother me and took our customary photo of the girls in front:

thanks! they get it from me, but I keep my in a ponytail half the time b/c its so big! It was a slow process getting over that sickness, but it finally went away. Now Im dealing w/all this pollen here! UGH!!

We are already early risers b/c we have to get K up early for school and DH works 1st shift so he's always up by 5:45am so it wasnt too difficult.

If you do get sick, you have to pay the "price" of getting sick. They mark up the cost of your avg meds. I try to pack stuff like that in case someone does feel bad but there's always one thing you do forget that you really need, like Pepto!

I try to coordinate or match them in case one wanders off and I can just tell the Cm's that she's wearing what the (pointing to the child w/us)other kid is wearing.

So we all headed into the MK. We walked in and it was PACKED. I guess the people were getting their spots for the parade or something. We stopped to get our family xmas pic in front of the castle done and it came out great! I was worried b/c there were so many walking around us but they were a cool blur and we were the only people in the pic w/the castle. We decided to head to IASW since my cuz and her fam hadnt ridden it yet. But we got sidetracked on the way over and stopped by the Haunted Mansion to ride. Kendra had a major crying fit over this and she and DH stayed outside to wait. The wait was only 20min but it went by fairly quick b/c I was catching up w/the cuz and Piper was playing w/her kids. So we got in and were about to get on the rides when it hit and I mean bad! I had to excuse myself(took Piper w/me b/c she wouldnt ride it w/o me) and ran out. What a waste!! UGH!! I literally dropped her off w/DH and ran towards the bathrooms. Whew!! Just made it. I stayed there 20 minutes and I can only wonder what some of those women were thinking but I didnt care @ that moment.

When I got out, thankfully DH was still waiting for me outside HM and the parade was getting ready to start. DH headed over w/o me to where my cuz and her family were standing. I had to pass b/c I just wanted to sit. Besides I watched the parade from afar, well at least I saw the tops of the floats and how can you miss the music its so loud. When it was over DH came over to me and we started walking. But then I got to feeling sick again and I took off running. But I didnt quite make it. OOps!! Remember when I said I was feeling sick earlier on IASW that morning? Well, it happened! Right in front of IASW I threw up(sorry if TMI!)!!!! Luckily there werent too many out there b/c of the parade but some saw and I apologize if I grossed you out. Thankfully a family was walking by and they said they'd get a CM to take care of it and they waved me off to the bathroom and said they hoped I felt better. Now that's a nice family who doesnt get grossed out and look at me like Im a 2 headed monster.

When I finally came out of the bathroom, again - the DH and girls were waiting on me and the fireworks were about to start. I was feeling well enough to sit and watch and my headache wasnt as bad.

Finally we headed home and loaded onto the POP bus and got back fairly quickly. The girls picked out their souvenier for the trip: Piper got a Lady stuffed dog (lady and the tramp) and Kendra got Marie from the Aristocats. We got to our room and everyone went to bed while I took a long bath and finally relaxed. I was a little disappointed that we didnt get too spend too much time w/my cuz but she understood. Maybe next time!

Next up: Epcot and would I feel better

Oh gosh poor you! Must be awful getting sick whilst at Disney.

I have read ALOT of posts about people getting food poisioning at Disney - it even happened to my uncle & cousin a few years back after eating at T Rex.

Can't wait to read more!

So sorry you got sick. We've been lucky on all our trips. The only one who has every gotten sick was me and it was a migraine that built up all day. I had to spend on evening in bed (at AKL no less) but my DM was a real trooper and took my DD (then 4) with her to WM to get some things. (She did really well considering she has never driven around WDW, it's always been me!) So luckily DD was in the room when I got sick. (I have this thing about getting sick in front of her-don't want to scare her) I was fine the next day and so far no one us has been sick (knock wood) any other time.

Your girls are so adorable! My DD11 would kill for curly hair!

We always request the same area at POP. 50's, 4th floor, lakeside. I wonder if they have been redone yet? If not, hopefully by this October. I would love to get a redone room.

Can't wait to read more.....

It was a beautiful cake and I didnt have anymore after that night, DH did but I couldnt "stomach" it! LOL! Too sweet for me those 2 days. At least DH enjoyed it for our visit.
She's always making that face nowadays since she started elementary school so it kind of fit the picture! Ha!! To get her to smile is the hard part. Bribery works best! J/k!!

Thanks. Piper loves her hair now, later who knows? Ive always had curly hair and only managed to "tame" it in high school. My mom wasnt into doing hair, etc. I hope I can teach them to manage it early so they can embrace it. It'll save them hours at least in the bathroom!
We had 50s lakeside last trip and loved it. This trip we were just so tired from the tired and the rain that we didnt care what we got and we ended up loving what we got. We tried to have a relaxed attitude this trip.

Thanks! All I had to do was mention fireworks for them to get that look! They love them. We try and tell Kendra each time that HM is not a scary ride but she wont listen and this time we werent going to skip the ride b/c it was our anniversary and she would have to deal with it when we went on so she cried more than usual and DH was like take her picture so she can see how she looks. She laughed later seeing herself like that.
It did suck to get sick but since we were only going to MK that day and Epcot then next we only had a short visit and I didnt want to miss any of it b/c this was probably our last visit for awhile. Turns out this was one of my fave trips. Funny how things turn out.

Day 2: Epcot Thursday April 7th, 2011

Today was a new day. Let's see did I feel better? Hmmm...I woke up and felt a little better but still needed DH to go ahead and give me a shot of Pepto to settle the stomach. Took a shower with the awesome massaging shower head (helped relax my neck!!, must say that's the best shower head/water pressure I've ever had at a hotel, way to go WDW!). Since Epcot didnt open til 9am we didnt have to rush to make it to rope drop. We all took our time getting ready and dressed. Piper decided she wanted to be Belle that morning so she wore her costume. I wish I could wear a costume on days when I wanted to be someone else! LOL!!

We headed out and got into line ready to enter the park. DH and Kendra headed towards Test Track to ride that while Piper and I went to get FP for Soarin.

Good thing we split up. DH and Kendra rode the TT w/o a wait and I got them FP for 10:20-11:20, which was good b/c when I got there after pushing that double stroller up that HILL and following the crowd down to Soarin the stand-by line was already 20min then a minute later before I got the FP's the wait was 1/2 hour and 9:15 or something!

Piper and I went to Finding Nemo to wait for DH and Kendra to get off TT. Of course Piper wanted to hug and take pics with the fishes:

They met us and we headed into Finding Nemo and rode it. Never fails to make us all laugh. Good family ride. Then we looked at the manatees. Love those things! We almost forgot about Crush so we had to head over there and just as we walked up they opened up the room and we walked right in. That's what I like, no wait! The girls loved talking to Crush again.

When that was done we headed out and I needed a frozen coke b/c I was feeling sick again and I wanted to go to Club Cool which we'd never been before. Of course, I had DH try the Beverly! LOL!!!! I didnt warn him or anything!

Too funny!! DH said it was the nastiest thing he's ever tasted and why didnt I warn him? B/c I wanted to take a pic that's why!!

I got my frozen coke and felt better. Those are my favorite and this was my first in 3 months b/c I gave them up. I figured I deserved one so I got one! It was time to head back to Soarin for DH and Kendra to use their FP. Kendra was so excited b/c she had never ridden before. Good thing I got them FP b/c when they got back there the standby line was 50 minutes @ 10:20am!
Piper and I sat in the food court area b/c I was hoping my stomach would settle if I sat for a bit. When DH and Kendra were finished you should've seen Kendra she was so happy. She was jumping up and down and telling me all the places she went and that she got to go to Disneyland. Things like that make you forget about your issues(being sick) and they get you into the spirit of Disney. DH said that when they went over the water Kendra lifted her feet b/c she was afraid that her feet would get wet. Too Funny!

Then we decided we wanted to head to the World Showcase, our fave part of Epcot!!
