How can I do this with a car rental?

Ok I was going to take Tiffany towncar from MCO to Hard Rock hotel--stay there for 3 days and then rent a car for the day to go visit my husband's grandmother in Tampa. When we get back that night we were going to check into the Poly. How can I rent a car just for the day from the Hard Rock go to Tampa and then go to the Poly? Make sense? I hate to rent a car for 9 days if we don't need to plus have to pay to park it at the Hard Rock.

How about this for an idea.....

Take the Hard Rock Shuttle to one of the Disney resorts that has a car rental at the desk.If it won't take you to the resorts, get to the parks and use Disney transportation. Rent your car. Take it back to pick up your stuff and go to Tampa. Then just bring it back to Disney and return it when you are done.

DIS experts, does this sound feasible?

OR: Doesn't Enterprise advertise that they pick you up?

Most of the hotels off-site have a shuttle that will take you to WDW at scheduled intervals. I assumed that Hard Rock would have one, too, but I could be mistaken.

I could be mistaken, but when we stayed at the HRH, I did not see or hear of any shuttle to take you to any Disney Property. To the airport, but you had to pay for it.

The Universal Loews hotels don't run free shuttles to WDW; that would be taking you to the enemy's camp. You can arrange to be taken, but it's not cheap.

I think that the best strategy would be to rent a car at one of the hotels on I-Drive that have desks onsite, preferably from National's desk at the Sheraton Studios. (The Sheraton does have a free shuttle to Universal, and you probably could get on it without anyone noticing. Or the quicker option would be to take a cab; it's only a mile.) If you took the Sheraton shuttle, come back to get your bags from bell services @ HRH, drive to Tampa. Coming back, drive to the Poly, check in and offload your luggage, then return the car to either the CCC or the Dolphin, whichever is cheapest.

Remember that a one-day car rental is for 24 hours, and the off-airport desks tend to have banker's hours. (The Sheraton desk is open 8-4.) The easiest thing is to get it from I-drive in the morning, then return it at WDW the following morning.

NotUrsula,

2 quick questions : How much is a cab from Hard Rock to National's desk at the Sherton Studios? and How do I get from the CCC back to the Poly? Thanks

I've never actually done this plan, you understand, I just knew where the hotel desk was on I-Drive. The Sheraton Studios is just under a mile from HRH; unless traffic is really hairy and the meter is running while you sit, I'm thinking it should cost about $5-6 to get that far. Without luggage you could probably even walk it.

I've been told that the Natl. desk at the CCC will give you transport to a Disney hotel, but I think you should call to confirm that. The local number for Nat'l in Orlando is 407-855-4170. If you return the car at the Dolphin, you can just get a Disney bus to the MK and hop the monorail back. (Or you could just jump on the boat to MGM or Epcot, if you returned the car in the morning.)
