we have a reservation for the wct with world of color tickets but looking at the menu and the price im not really sure if it is worth the price.... we are going aug 27th-sept 4th and can go any day... do u think it might be slow enough that we would be able to just get tickets and ok viewing for 3 adults and 4 lil guys between the ages of 1 month and 8 years old... or is the special seating combined with dinner worth the price?

What you're really paying for is the convenience of not having to stand in line to get the fastpass or get to the site really early to get a good place to stand. That being said, I did the WOC dinner package for the first show and I would not do it any other way. Even with the package, I still wound up getting to the reserved spot about 45 minutes before the show. The reserved spot was about half full by then, but the other spots were totally packed.

If you don't mind sitting around for a long time to hold your spot, then you really don't need the package.

I'd read the WOC superthread, but I just wanted to throw out there, that it is not seating to WOC. You stand, you get a fast pass with your meal that gets you into a particular section. My DH and I do the picnics. We like the food. On our last trip we were in yellow section, wet zone, right at the rail. (2nd show). We did get wet. And we still had to wait about 35 minutes.

I think it kill two birds with one stone. Set price for dinner so good for budgeting. You get to sit relax and eat instead of standing and waiting for WOC. Then a set viewing area for the show, sometimes a less crowded better view of the show.
I just think it makes things easier. Maybe I'm just lazy lol

The preferred dining for WOC has never really been "worth it" if you mean you get some extra special benefits to seeing WOC. You have always had to return early before the show if you wanted to secure a guaranteed good view of the show. The view is not that much better than the regular, free FPs. Most folks who have done preferred dining do it because they want to dine anyways.

And as a PP said, there is no "special seating" for WOC. In fact there is no seating at all. Read the WOC Superthread linked in my signature below.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it. The picnic isn't even worth it any more because there are no lines for WoC fastpassess -- everyone is in line for Radiator Racer fastpasses!

We found plenty of railing space in the blue section 45 minutes prior to show time. It seems people are not lining up as early as they were the prior summers, and that's a good thing. Even 30 minutes prior the blue area was not packed.

I think either way you should plan to spend 45 - 30 minutes prior to the show staking out your spot.

How about in early September? I will be there from Sep 6-13. Is it really that crowed on weeknights in early September? I do not plan on getting a dining package so I'll be relying on FP.

...sorry to bump, but we too are going at the end of August and I had the same questions. Also, if I don't do the dining package, when and where do you obtain the 'free' fast passes? I didn't know if there is a specific time you can get them. Also, does getting the WoC fast pass hinder getting other fast passes throughout the day. Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I'm a WDW veteran and a DL newbie. Thanks for any advice...:)

I always enjoyed the dinner and had fantastic places to see WOC without waiting very long.

That said. Answering your questions, you can get fast passes by grizzly river run first thing in the mooring. And, it will not impede you getting other fast passes right away.

Have fun!!,

You need to read this (first post and final pages or two):

WOC is still busy and first show "sells out" each night. It really depends on how tall everyone is in your group and whether you want to have a slam dunk, for sure decent view of the show or are willing to risk an obstructed view. Note that obstructed view is not like being to mostly see a Disney fireworks show. It is like being behind a tree and possible seeing very little of the show.

We'll be there just about the same days (sept 29th-oct 3rd) :goodvibes

Take in consideration that some of those nights DL will be closing earlier due to their Halloween Party (like Tuesday) and maybe on those days WoC might be more crowded.

We have always gotten our FP with the picnic meals and plan on doing so again this year.

Have fun!!!

Bumping up with a question :

In February, should we expect 1 or 2 WOC shows? What times (does anyone know approx.)? We will be going on a Thursday (if that matters).

I am trying to square away our plans, as I am neurotic, LOL.

And another question :

Can an "adult" (16yo) get the "Junior All American" picnic meal? I know DS won't touch half of the items on the adult picnics.

a thurs. in Feb should only have one show. if the park closes at 8:00.... then woc should show that night @ 8:15.

We did WOC at 8:15 2 mondays ago and it was packed. We even had the WOC fastpass and byt he time we got to the spot it was full. If I knew how the seating/standing there worked I would have done a package.

I got FP for WOC on Friday, Oct. 19 for the 9 p.m. show (blue section). We got there at 8:15 and there was still room left. We sat on the ground for a while then were told to stand up so they could fit more people in. We liked the show but were frustrated with standing for so long. Kids especially had a hard time that late at night. No way would I pay extra for the meal to have to stand for a show.

I see your first question was answered. As far as this one, yes, anyone can order any picnic meal. Whoever picks up the meals for everyone will get a bunch of bags, each with a meal and a WOC ticket. They don't track who eats what.

Thank you very much!

We were just there and instead of paying for a meal we got FP's in the morning, probably around 10:00am and got blue. We went to the area around 6:35pm for the 8:15pm show and people were already starting to line up so we lined up as well. Around 7:00pm they let us in and we went to the bridge and had a very good view and it wasn't super crowded like the lower area was. We went there because the kids are 7 and 9 and we wanted a railing so they would have an uninstructed view. It was a great show- a long wait but worth it.
