How budget friendly is everyone's weekend?

We went for groceries as we do every Saturday, and got a tank of gas. That was it. I was recovering from strep and dd was home from school for mid winter break so we stayed in and enjoyed each others company. Sunday was cleaning and cooking all day.

Next weekend will be a bust. We have a tournament for ds's basketball team. That always means a few meals out. Plus my tax refund is scheduled to come Friday and there's a list of things we are going to get and had been holding off on. The biggest one being a new washing machine. The old one is still clinging to life so I have time to watch for good prices, but it's coming soon.

Wish I would've done better, but still not bad.

Friday
- My fiance drove me to work (so we wouldn't have to take 2 cars to happy hour/dinner) which is out of his way and as a thank you, I bought him breakfast @ McDonald's, $7.50
- Happy Hour: $20 for our share of beer and apps
- Dinner out with friends: $35 for a couple of drinks and our meals

Saturday
- $110 in groceries (could've done better, but once a month or so I spend more to stock up)
- $20 at Target, got myself a new water bottle and a few other random things.
- $10 in quarters for laundry (non negotiable, lol)

Sunday
- $20 quick trip to the store for shampoo/conditioner/a few random things.
- $48 for a dress I bought, didn't end up liking it so it will get returned.

Overall not terrible. We probably do dinner out/happy hour with friends once a month, so I was fine with that. Spent more than necessary at the grocery store but we needed some extras and I stocked up on a few things. I usually try to spend $75 at the grocery store each week. I used to be terrible between the mall and Target- could easily pop into Target and drop $50 on crap, so I'm glad I held out and got a water bottle I've been wanting.

We did great on entertainment and had a lot of fun!

Friday night - free movie at the Navy base. $8 for 2 popcorn, 2 nachos, 1 pickle and 2 waters.

Saturday - College baseball game. $20 for 4 tickets plus $6 for snacks.

Sunday - bicycle races $5.

We ate out once for $20 on a gift card, all other meals were from the pantry, freezer, or leftovers.

We did some shopping for DD'S birthday but got good deals. Her main present is her first cell phone which we bought on ebay and added to our family plan for only $20 per month, including quadrupling our data plan :bday:

Oh good post. This weekend was fairly cheap, but last weekend was more expensive as I had a long weekend so I stocked on supplies. i spent a good $400 i believe between target, walmart, and the grocery store. that being said i did finally buy some of the stuff we desperately need for the apartment and won't need to buy again for years and stocked the freezer/pantry for a month which means the next few weeks will be just fresh produce.

Friday: dinner at home, $0 as all groceries in house
Saturday: went to DMV but they needed more paperwork as my husband is transferring a license from another state so we will duplicate this cost next weekend, probably spent $15-20 on gas tolls but.... his sister lives around the corner so we went to visit their family. she gave us chips and water, we were going to stop for a snack so this actually saved us some money and they were thrilled to see us for a bit. gorgeous weather so went to the park for a run, free activity again. dinner was at pf changs on a giftcard and we had one meal from our reward points, so we paid $10 cash tip ($5.70 on card but the cash tip was easier than trying to split it up) for 3 entrees and two drinks.
Sunday: lazy day in, last weekend we had tons of chores. brunch and dinner were at home, so $0. we couldn't get the public bus to church as we were running late so we paid $6 to a private bus.

my mum got me a smart blueray player for Xmas so we are currently watching Downton Abbey and Madmen. Between both we have no desire to go out to the movies as we want to know what happens next lol.

This weekend will fit in our budget, but is not an inexpensive weekend by any means. In fact, we'll be spending quite a bit more than we usually do over a weekend because of a show we are going to. It will be a lot of fun, though.

Friday is just eat in at home.

Saturday
-- I'm playing tennis inside with a court check and doing personal training (normal budget)
-- I'm taking my car in for an oil change (regular car maintenance)
-- normal grocery shopping for the week around $135 (we are getting a small cake for DH's birthday too -- maybe $12)
-- normal gas fill ups
-- And then it's the higher than normal spending. It's DH's 62nd birthday. DH, DS (20) (student at our local community college), and I are going to see the Broadway traveling show, Beautiful (Biography and music of Carol King). Ticket -- bought a few months ago were about $70 pp, it will be $10 for parking, and before the show we'll go out to dinner at Maggiano's (DS's favorite higher end Italian restaurant and it's on our way -- between our house and the theatre.) -- Dinner with tip will probably run around $80. We typically eat out every Saturday night -- our once a week dinner out, but usually we go to less expensive places than this (Ruby Tuesday's, Steak and Shake, Sweet Tomatoes, more modest local places). And DS just joins us on occasion (maybe once a month) -- more often going out with friends. Probably about nine times a year DH and I we go to a slightly higher end place (like what we are doing here) -- certain couples we go out to dinner with on occasion, and sometimes on our own before or after a show when we're wearing something other than jeans. And the other Saturdays are a more modest dinner out.

Sunday
-- no spending really (doing things around the house, catching up on paperwork, doing some pleasure reading, goofing off on the internet, dog walking, homework for DS, etc.)
-- DS, though, will be taking his car in for an oil change (regular car maintenance)
