How bad is Tony's?

I have read a lot of bad reviews of Tony's Town Square at MK. Is it really that bad? I chose this for an early dinner on the night that we are attending MVMCP.

My kids LOVE Italian food. They aren't picky on quality -they love it when it is good, bad or average. Looking at the menu, I know they will like what's offered. This is the only sit-down in the MK that we've never been to, so that's why I picked it.

But the reviews make me nervous. Not just that the food is mediocre, but that the service is bad.

Anyone have anything reassuring to say?

we ate here this past april for dinner and enjoyed it. It wasn't fine italian but it was good as was the service. your kids will enjoy it. we would go back & plan to next year.

We went before MNNSHP on Oct 6th and had a really good experience. The food, yes is nothing incredible, but it was tasty and satisfying. Our server's name was Ed and he was great. He kept the cups full and the food was out as an enjoyable pace.

It was the only place available that night. I did not expect alot from the review I read, but we were pleasantly surprised. I hope you have a great experience also.

Here is a link to my review...check out post #7

Go with low expectations and you'll love it. ;) That sounds funny, but that's the general experience. We were pleasantly surprised, both liked our chicken parm, and wanted to book again for our next trip, but couldn't get a rezzie!

I have given Tony's three tries and won't be back. The service has been terrible and the food close to inedible every time. Each time everyone in my party has had a different dish, so we have all tried multiple items but everything has been very poor quality.

I don't know how anyone could even mess up marinara sauce and dry angel hair pasta, but they succeed.

We ate there for lunch Oct 08, dinner March and June 09 and really enjoyed it alot...in these links to my dining reviews you will find a ton of pics and full reviews.

We have only been for lunch, but have loved it every time. I have never gotten an ADR, but just walked up (twice this past August) and been seated within a 1/2 hour at most. Each and every time we have been, the service has actually been excellent (I am suprised by the number of bad reviews).
My only negative comment is that the lunch menu is very limited. However, I have really enjoyed those dishes that I have eaten there (Eggplant Parm was very good).

We went there for the first time in March and really enjoyed it (I too was a bit nervous before going because of all the bad reviews). We were lucky enough to eat outside and watch the 3pm parade too, which also made it a very good experience for us. Our kids love Italian food like yours and they both loved their spaghetti, my DH and I really enjoyed our meals as well and the deserts were very good too. We enjoyed it so much in March that I made another ADR for there in December (hoping that we will be seated outside again to see the parade).

FI and I ate there on our first trip and really enjoyed it. The food was decent and the atmosphere is pretty nice! I would make it akin to Olive Garden?

Anyway, we liked it enough that we booked an ADR there for our honeymoon in March.

Good luck!

I was going to say the same thing! The food and service has always been ok. The atmosphere is pleasant. I enjoy it more than I do LTT, CRT, and the Plaza. We have always gone for lunch every trip but decided to try for dinner last time. Lunch is usually dead, with maybe a dozen other tables even sat. During our last trip (for dinner) it was packed with several kids running around the restaurant screaming and jumping and just noisy-ness in general. We won't be back for dinner as we most enjoyed the quiet we had during our lunch visits (I know for dinner they don't allow requests but if you're going for lunch request to sit in the patio room, it's so nice to sit in that section).

I have read a lot of bad reviews of Tony's Town Square at MK

1) I would dare say that there are no bad eateries at WDW.
2) However, I would say that there are a lot of average eateries.
3) IMHO, Tony's falls in to this category.

Okay, I feel better. "akin to Olive Garden" will be just fine for us. I think it will make the kiddos very happy. At least we're in the Magic Kingdom, right? Bad food in the MK is better than eating at home, after all!

Thanks for all the comments -very helpful!

Tony's was ok. The food was good but the service was terrible. We waited a long time and when we tried to call our waitress it was still a long delay. Besides for that Tony's had some really great food it was very good and i thought it was delicious. And DON'T froget to look for Lady and The Tramp:thumbsup2

We ate there for dinner in July. It wasn't the best Italian food I've ever had, but it wasn't the worst, either. We also had great service :)

I'm with the majority. I give it a solid "Ok". Given your modest standards, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

My husband and I love Tony's. The restaurant always looks nice & clean, the food is always yummy and the service has always been fine. One time I just mentioned liking the salad dressing and our server went and got me a copy of the recipe so I could whip up a batch at home. I didn't even ask, she was jsut being proactive and that's what I like.

We at there in May for the first time. I really liked it and loved the atmosphere.

We ate there in April 2008 - just a whime. It was good = no complaints.

We booked it again for April 2010, but read those same reviews and started worrying. But based on the other places we are eating on our and in the MK, the desire for another MK location, menus of MK locations and our one experience - we decided to go again.

I like the reviews, but you have to make the final decision. (I read a bad review of O'hana's this week and started second guessed that reservation too.)

Good luck!

Y

We went to Tony's last September (2008) and expected to hate it! Especially after all of the bad reviews here! What we got was unexpected and yummy! The service, not so hot, but the food was good! Dessert was awesome too!
