How bad is Epcot during week in fall?

Boy reading the Unofficial Guide makes me want to completely avoid Epcot during our October visit unless we can make it there on Saturday or Sunday. The authors make it sound like the park is overrun by school groups!

What have your experiences been that time of year? We were last there in September 2000 and went on Saturday day and Sunday evening and found it pretty slow on Saturday but busy Sunday evening (we didn't get a good view of Illuminations my biggest disappointment from that trip)

After early May, October is my favorite time of the year to go to WDW. The weather is generally good and I have not come across many significant crowds at all. I have seen school groups there but never felt overwhelmed by their size(s). Actually,my experience has been somewhat contradictory to what you have indicated.....being that the only crowds I have seen have been there on the weekend.....for the Food & Wine Festival. I believe a lot of the locals attend this event but is one I would recommend making time for. I can't wait for this October when we'll be there for this festival.....a lot of great tastes and fun!

I can only comment on the end of October but I've found the weekends to be busy (because of the Food & Wine Festival). Weekdays are great! I don't remember seeing a lot of school age kids around.
