Well, we finally made it to our house in Polk City (Florida). Jeanne really screwed up our plans, like so many others.

Just wondered how crowded FW is in light of all the recent happenings. We would like to go there for a couple days before we head back to Illinois, and just wondered how things were there.

We have the golf cart all charged up and are ready to hit Trails End for some bread pudding and whipped cream, and maybe a beer or two.

Anyone there now ????

Thanks for any info ...

John

we had reservations this week but postponed them since we live in VEROBEACH and was slammed by 2 hurricanes.
I'm sure it will be up and running already.
We're going in a few weeks, hoping it won't be too crowded maybe all the tourist got scared off.
Coz it IS a warzone down here. The news don't show the ful picture. I know VEro Disney resort had alot of landscaping, beach damage. If anyone is going there soon, I would cancel the reservation, its going to be MONTHS before our city looks good again.

Actually, most of the damage we have seen here in Central FL has been trees down. Not near as bad as we thought, but then we just got here yesterday (Polk City, not FW).

My cousin lives in Vero and has faired pretty well. She sat out Francis here in our house in Polk City.

She sent pics of Disney Vero, and it does look pretty bad but she said they will have it cleaned up pronto. No pics of the resort, just the beach area.

Have been to FW 2 times in the last month. 4 weeks ago it was looking good but very, very empty, 2 weeks ago looking good and not as empty. Was to be there this weekend but had a change of plans. Will be there again in 3 weeks and expect many more campers to be enjoying the grounds.

Relax and enjoy those beers.

We have not been yet but our neighbor's MH is packed and ready for their trip this weekend. From all I have read and seen FW did OK relatively speaking. At least you should be able to be comfortable that any branches overhanging the campsites are steadfast to the trees. I have had a couple of sites that I was not sure of the branches over head. If they made it through the high winds they must be well attached.

Just got back from Ft W on Monday. When I got there on Thursday, not a lot of campers. There was only one on one loop, but as the weekend passed, it filled up to maybe half. There are still some trees down on some of the sites and you can see trees bent over or down where there are no loops, but all in all it looks o.k. and we had a great time!
