The family is headed to WDW Sept 12th through the 20th. How are the lines? Can we expect short waits for rides?

Staying at VWL.

Last year we took DS out of school so we could go in Sept because we read so much about it being the slowest time. Well, we are doing it again this year and can't imagine ever going at another time until we have to or we have enought points to take a second trip in the same year. We arrived on the Sunday before Labor Day last year and stayed for a week, same plan again this year. Except for that first Sunday the crowds were so small the Fast Pass machines were never turned on the rest of the week. Longest line the entire trip was less than 10 min. Sept. can still be very hot, wasn't last year, but we go to the parks in the AM and PM and swim at the resort or go to a water park during the middle of the day. The park hours are shorter, but you can do more at the parks in less time and have that extra time to do otherthings at the resorts. Also, it is great with small kids because long lines and small kids are a receipe for disaster no matter what the weather is.

well if you have kids over the higeth requirment or are going alone it is a good time but fantasyland rides are long since mostyl mothers and toddlerz in stroleers are down there. that is what happened to me when i went.

We have gone in September for several years and the crowds are very low - usually no more than a 10 minute wait on most popular rides. We also go to the parks in the am-go back to the resort for a swim and return early evening. The park hours are even better this year than from what I can remember in the past (possibly due to Wishes every night) Enjoy your trip.

Crowds are quite manageable. But one thing to remember--. Due to those low crowds, Disney will often "hold back" on the # of cars in a given ride. Just as an example--Looking at the Land boat ride in Epcot. On our last Sept. visit they had exactly TWO boats running when we got there. Tho the crowds were low, that line was very long. And they made no effort to bring any other boats into service. It took almost 40 minutes for us to get on the ride.
Similar situation may exist for other rides of that type.
BUt all things condidered, Sept. is a great time to go.

There pretty much aren't any crowds in Sept. My dh and I went way back in 1997 9/19-9/26 and it was GREAT! We never had to wait in line for anything!!! We're going again this year WITH our 5 yr old and 13 month old, 9/22-9/29 and are hoping for the same kind of 'crowds'. :)
