How are my calculations on pts needed?

We are going to WDW 12/26/05-1/1/06. I have calculated the resorts we are interested in, studios, as the following:

BCV 160 pts
SSR 146 pts
BWV 140 pts

Is this accurate? At (assuming) $10/pt,
BCV: $1600
SSR: $1460
BWV: $1400
?

That is assuming, or course, that there are any studios available.

I know you all have DVCs so would like to sell your points. But, when trying to economize, can anyone give me a good reason why we, my partner and I, should rent a DVC resort for $1400 minimally when we can stay at All Star Sports (where DPs' DS is staying with his BB team) for $800? Granted we won't have the kitchenette but with just the two of us we can wing it for breakfast and all our lunches and dinners are in the parks or on the fly anyway.

I'd just like to know if I'm missing something.

Well, you are really comparing apples and oranges if you are comparing a value resort against a DVC or deluxe resort. Obviously, it will be cheaper to stay in a value. For you two it probably doesn't make sense to spend extra on a room, since you may not be in the room much, but for families and some wanting larger accomdations, may enjoy the advantages of a DVC resort.

I have stayed in a value and while acceptable, I find one of the biggest perks in a deluxe is the bus service. It may not be the case, but at least my experience, we didn't wait as long and the crowds weren't as bad on the buses at the deluxe resorts as they were at value.

We did stay at Caribbean Beach and SSR this last trip. Loved SSR! But we were traveling with two adults and three kids (16, 14, 9). It was great to have the kitchen, two bedrooms and two baths. Not to mention the washer/dryer and dishwasher! But we're much lighter with two adults. And we'll be attending at least four BB games during our 7 day stay. So, I'm thinking the value will probably suffice this time.

Thanks!

If it's just the 2 of you, and not in the room much and all your friends/family will be elsewhere, I would agree that it doesn't make much sense. (and I love my DVC).

I suspect it may me a moot point anyway. If there are any studios available (and that's a mighty big IF this close to date and for Holiday season), I suspect anyone renting out will be asking more than $10/point as it's a pretty high demand time of year.

Yes, I think we will choose between All Stars Sports and offsite at this point. I did get feedback for a studio at SSR but that $1460 price tag is too much for trip two in one year! :earseek: I think $800 or $200 (offsite) is sounding pretty good. :cool1:

Tamu, I have a friend named Tamu. It means something like "Sweet One" in Swahili, I think.

I think that's a wise choice for you, because the date you are talking about for this year are going to be very hard to get at this point.
