How are Crocs sized?

Could somebody explain how Crocs are sized for kids? My 5yr old wants Disney Crocs, so I brought him to a store that carries Crocs to see what size fits him best. The 12/13 fit him best, but when I looked to buy them, I see sizes 1m,2m,3m,12m. (he wants lime green) The other colors have C12/13 and some M2 and M3. So I am completely confused.

I am wondering the same thing for my 6 year old. On dick's sporting goods site there is an explanation for sizing that involves measuring your childs foot. Look there. I think I might try that.
