We will be staying at the Riviera and our Epcot day will be Sunday, 2/1.

The Skyliner refurbishment dates are listed as 1/25-1/31. In the past, has Disney been spot on with the end date or has it ever been extended?

It's actually not "Disney" that is doing this. It's the manufacturer that does the work. I'm sure they have a good handle on how long it will take as they have a lot of experience with these systems.

@MamaKate the Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group is an international manufacturer of the Gondola system, and they provide the trained maintenance crews that work on the Skyliner. They often are able to open the different segments in a staged manner, and they are very likely finish up to a day early. Just don't make plans on all of the Skyliner lines to be open earlier that the scheduled time window.

Many things can impact a construction schedule and some or those can't be predicted ahead of time. There can be a delay in materials arriving or inclement weather limits outdoor work. Some parts they expected to repair might be found to need replacement and have to be ordered. The contractor can be an expert on this type of work, but much like a home improvement project, until the work actually begins, you can't know what else you might find that impacts the schedule.

I totally understand that, however, I was just wondering if historically they have reopened on schedule in the past few years since this seems to be regular annual maintenance.

The simple answer is yes on-time or even early for part of the system or 100% of the system early. They have not been late yet but the system is still quite young. These Gondola systems normally run for decades before Heavy maintenance is required.
