 Can ya'll tell me how you liked to HDR? Is it fun, or kinda hokey? Is it worth 2 tickets of the dining plan?

For goodness sakes, do a little searching and there are plenty of reviews at wdwig.com .

We enjoyed it a lot. The food was pretty good and the show was corny but funny. We had free dining, so I don't know that I would pay out of pocket for it, but I didn't have to worry about the cost. Actually, they didn't even take off the TS credits for it, so technically it was really free!

We went to the 5 pm show and we were out of there by about 6:45 or 6:50.

We went in January with some friends who had been before.... and for a one time experience it was fun, not sure I would pay the price to do it again. The night we were there, the food and service were very good, I have heard mixed reviews on that topic, and the show was hokey, but made us all laugh. We were a party of three adults, and four kids - 12, 10, 8 (my DD) and 6.

we went to it last yr and loved it. this yr we did the spirit of aloha at the poly and though the hoop de doo was much better. couldnt been the fact it was 95 degrees out and we had to sit outside to watch it (aug 10) but i think the food over all at the Hoop Dee Doo was much better. thats my opinion...

We made it our first meal in WDW...arrived at 3:00, checked into the hotel and traveled to Fort Wilderness by boat. We really enjoyed the show. Yes, it is definitely hokey...but we thought it was really fun. Now, is it worth 2 TCs? I don't think so, personally, as the food is just so-so (salad drowning in Italian dressing, fried chicken, not-so-great strawberry shortcake dessert...) We went while on the dining plan but opted to pay OOP--still quite expensive. However, we decided it would not be a "park day" and the Hoop-dee-doo Review really got us into the Disney spirit. The performers are professionals and the experience is a good one!

Good luck!

Take it easy. :scared: The OP is new -- I've searched and read most of the reviews (for this and Spirit of Aloha) and STILL can't decide whether or not to cancel my reservations and get a refund.

I'll second that!! ::yes::

We enjoy the Hoop Dee Doo! It's fun, and silly, and hokey IMO. We had a great time there and will be going again on our next trip. :thumbsup2
We are still deciding whether it is worth the 2 TS or not! In our case, of a family of 4, that would be 8 TS total. So is it worth 8 TS?? :confused3 We're still undecided!! :teeth:

We went two weeks ago it was our second time there.
We love the show and the food.
The cast really get into the show, and we had the same waiter Bob both times, and he was fantastic!
I would say if you have never been there, try it.

It is both fun and hokey. :) I adore the Hoop-Dee-Doo. I don't get the dining plan and can't help you there, but I highly recommend the show!!!!!!

And never feel like you can't ask a question! That's what these boards are here for!!!!!!!!!!! :)

:welcome: to the Dis!

We just did it a few weeks back and we had the meal plan so i didnt feel as bad about the money but if you are paying for it id try hoope dee doo instead... the spirit of aloha is a lot of talking, dancing of course too but knows. if it wasnt so darn hot i may have enjoyed it more. i just think you get more food for you money at Hoop De Doo. The desert at Spirit of Aloha doesnt compare to the strawberry shortcake at Hoop Dee Doo....

That's the way to spread that Disney magic!! :wizard: Your response can be true for most questions asked on this board.

We are trying the Hoop for the first time in Sept. I've read good and bad reviews so our expectations are kind of right in the middle. We have a 4 yr old so I'm hoping she will have a good time. I've thought about cancelling it but DH says we should at least try it once (we're on the DP).

Go for it! My family and I loved every minute of it. When we xsaw it kds were 1 and 7. Son laughed so hard he nearly cried. Love to eat good food and I thought the dinner was great from the bread salad (dh still mentions it 2 yrs later) ribs, corn, beans and the shortcake was yummy. We didnt even know sangria/beer was free.

Now if it was just DH and I would I be raving so much? I am not sure at all- just sseing my son really made it a great time..
Going back in October.

Actually, DH is mistaken about our server...we had Rob (Bor spelled backwards), but is totally correct that we all love the show. I'd say sitting up close certainly adds to the fun though. If you can let go of your inhibitions and just sing and clap along, you'll have a great time.

Sounds to me like the OP is doing some searching. Right here on a Disney board :wave2:

We are going for the first time on our next trip. We are opting to pay OOP, just because of the new "tiered Seating" that goes into effect in 2007. This may be our only opportunity to see it, so I wanted good seats(Category 1) and with the DDP you can only get Category 2 or 3. Hopefully paying OOP for cat 1 seating will be worth it. Have fun with whatever you decide. :)

we just went last week and this was our 1st time, the food was good and the entertainment was good but it was free and so we figured we would use the 2 credits, would I do it again??nope,I know people go all the time but 1 time for my family was enough.and truthfully if we did not have the FDDP we could not afford it along with all the other meals we ate.

Go for it!

Our family has gone a couple of times to HDDR, and we have always had a great time. The food is basic, but good. Again, the show is hokey, but it is a true Disney experience. The performers play to the audience quite well, and if you've never been before, you really should try it! Maybe someone in your party will get chosen to participate!?! BTW, pay no attention to the crabby poster earlier! As you search this board, you will find varied reviews on everything. I remember one poster loved San Angel Inn in Mexico, because it was "cool and dark" after being in the sun all day. The next poster hated it because it was "damp and poorly lit"! You ain't never gonna please everyone, and some posters are sooo hard to please, I'm surprised they ever go back to WDW. My philosophy ... It's Disney, how bad could it be? Happy up people!

We did Hoop Dee Doo in 10/04. It was great. It's a bit on th ecorny side, but a very interactive show. The food was good. We were a party of 5 adults/3 kids and everyone had a good time. We'd go it again.:thumbsup2
