Cindy McCain isn't any only child as she claims. She has two half-siblings (dad's first marriage before he married his 'beauty queen'). One of them was so hurt by Cindy's rhetoric she spoke out. BTW, she's voting for Obama.

Oh yeah, she thinks she deserves special treatment. That's why she's so often in other countries in the trenches. Getting her hands dirty, exposing herself to a ton of possible diseases, spending her time helping others. Yup she sounds like a real elitist.
If you want to see what an elitist looks like take a good gander at Michelle Obama and her hubby. That should satisfy anybody's desire to see what an elitist really is.

What a beautiful, accomplished woman who historically has given a lot of herself through the years. I am impressed.

I believe both women belong in the 'elitist' crowd as do their spouses. I do not believe elitist should be considered bad. Gone to prep schools, legacy higher education, rich, well spoken(except W), legacy money...all those things COULD make one a smart, generous person. It's NOT bad unless one turns it into bad.

I don't have much opinion on her politically at all, though I'm happy to hear that McCain is ashamed of his behaviour at the time of the breakup of his first marriage.

The video was overdone, IMO. In the back of my head I kept hearing strains of "Who is this Santa Cynthia?"

Let me clue you in...the people who are your siblings are the ones you have a relationship with. My mother's older daughter was my sister (even though we had different fathers). My father's older daughter whom I met once in my life is nothing to me. If you ask me how many siblings I have, I will say none since my ONLY sister died. Now, genetically the two are identically related to me so I suppose I am being hurtful too.

Explaining how her father acheived the American Dream with a few borrowed dollars and a strong back...seems to me there is no favored treatment there. She does acknowledge she was given a blessed life.

She travels to war torn third world nations to help others. She doesn't spend all of her days at the spa and her evenings at cocktail parties (although, I'm sure her calendar is booked with a few ).

One son enlisted in the military.

I don't see at all where the McCains believe they deserve special treatment.

So, she has money. What is the problem with that?


Who is an elitiest, you ask...
Read that definition and think of Obama...now there is your elitist. He comes across to many by action and word as seeming to believe he and his beliefs are superior to others because of his intellectual abilities. Mocking people who cling to religion and their guns. Allowing his campaign to belittle Palin's experience as a mayor because it was just a small town. His policies want to control and dominate us because HE knows what is best. Some of us see this as socialism or Marxism. Many don't want to be controlled by someone who thinks they know what is best for us. The government certainly has its place, but I am capable to make decisions on my own and do not need an elitiest from an Ivory Tower deciding for me.

As I listened to her last night I thought about how much she has done for others and about what I could do for others here in my community. It just struck me that I should follow her lead and find ways to help others. It is funny as I could not tell you what she had on, and I think she was pretty nervous to talk to so many people, but my personal message from her is that we can all make a difference if we choose to. She seemed very kind, compassionate and sincere.

I posted a negative critique of her speech in my earlier post (#10) but it was at the end.

I am very much a McCain/Palin supporter.

I thought the video for Cindy McCain was great. But, her speech was far too long. She did not seem comfortable. (I honestly worried for her much of the time that she would really falter.)
I in no way support Obama, but his wife is a gifted speaker and handled her speech well and it was a fairly good speech given the message. She was able to handle it.
I think having potential first lady's give these long speeches should be on a case by case basis. If it is their thing, then go for it. If not, then keep it short and simple.
Who cares if the first lady can give a grand speech in front of millions of people? I am not voting for her.

Since I have no intention for running for President it will look just fine on my resume. ( a teacher by the way)

BO was given praise from John McCain (and many others) for his community service. I personally want to see more as his primary qualification to be President of the United States. I can be respectful of what he has done to help others but it doesn't mean I trust him to run the country!

Although I wouldn't give her husband a vote for head of even a park recreation I loved her story. She's a VERY interesting woman. The only thing I question with Cindy was WHY IS SHE WITH MCCAIN???? I question her judgment in McCain.

BTW, I also found it interesting that when they were telling Cindy's story the "forgot" to mention that when she met McCain that he was married!!!! How convenient to omit that information.

I think Cindy McCain is a woman to be admired and a true patriot. The fact that virtually no one knew about her past good works is a testiment that she doesn't do it for the acknowledgment. She is a classy lady and wears her expensive outfits beautifully, as does OS Oprah, of whom I don't hear anyone here complaining about the cost of her many photographed red-carpet ensembles. Just another double standard.

I am very impressed with her too! I knew she did a lot of philanthropy work, but I had no idea just how much! She doesn't just talk the talk, she walks the walk! A very impressive woman indeed!!
