How about age 3 and NOT potty trained

Of course I am HOPING that my 2-year-old will be completely potty trained by the time we cruise as she will just be turning 3. But, what if she is not? I know that she can not use the Oceaneer's Club unless she is completely potty trained, but how would she do in Flounder's Nursery? Is there enough to keep a young pre-schooler occupied? Has anyone been in this situation? How did it work out?

She can definitely go to Flounder's Nursery if she is not fully potty-trained, and they certainly get plenty of toddlers in there in addition to infants. They are equipped with toys and games for all the little ones, not just infants.

Hopefully you'll get some more information from others who have used the program for older toddlers.

When we traveled on the Magic with our then 2 1/2 year old who was not potty trained, he was more than happy with Flounder's Nursery. They are equipped to handle older todlers as well as babies. He was also welcome in the Oceaner's Club as long as my husband or myself stayed with him. Hope this helps.

We cruised on the Magic last year with a 2 year old, one week shy of her 3rd birthday, who we thought was completely potty- trained. They allowed her into the Oceaneer's Club, but due to the excitement of the cruise (or whatever), she had two small accidents and was not allowed to go back. She was welcomed at Flounder's Reef.

My daughter is 2 1/2 and we did the family time at flounders once but she was bored with the toys there....mostly for younger toddlers/babies and they have about 20 each of 5 different toys on the shelves. She didn't want to go back and play after that one time.

My son was 3 years and 2 days when we traveled on the first cruise. So, I had to pay an adult fare for him and then pay for Flounders (he was not fully trained). They will not allow pull ups in the clubs either. He had an OK time. I think there were enough toys, but not much room to play. It is a very small area as compared to the club. Second cruise he was 3 yrs and 10 months and had a ball going to the Big Kids area as he called.

The kids clubs are free. But Flounders Nursery is considered 'day care'. It is available by reservation only and a per hour charge.

Flounder's Reef Nursery Group Babysitting participation details

Participation details
- Babysitting is not available in guest staterooms.
- This service is available for children ages 12 weeks to 3 years*.
- Reservations are taken on embarkation day from 1:30-3:30p. Space is limited; available on a first come first serve basis, based on sitter availability
(In order to accommodate as many families as possible, we may limit the number of multiple requests per family)
- The fee is $6 per child per hour, $5 per additional child per hour, 2-hour minimum required
- Nursery is open each evening and selected times during each day

*Exceptions that may prevent participation:
- A child who shows symptoms of fever, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained skin rash, discharge from the nose or eyes or has any other contagious disease or illness

Special Requests that we are unable to accommodate:
- A child who requires one on-one-care.
- A child who needs babysitter assisted medical attention.
- For any further assistance, please contact the Disney Cruise Line Special Reservations coordinator.

I think it depends on how much you plan to leave your 3 year old in Flounders. They have plenty of things to occupy her for at least a day or two. Beyond that, I do think she might get bored. My DD was 2yr 9mo when we cruised and she loved the place, but we didn't take her there much and I could tell the newness of the toys would wear off soon. At the same time, she loved the OC activities, but certainly would not have been comfortable there without a parent.

baileysgm - my DD has been completely potty trained for months, but that first day on the cruise she became terrified of the toilets and had two accidents. Maybe it's just an adjustment period to the completely unfamiliar surroundings.
