Dh does not own a tux and he is not keen to buy or rent one, so how silly would he feel wearing his kilt?. It is extremely smart, but he is not sure and also concerned it will be too hot (we are on the sept cruise). Has anyone else worn or seen kilts on the cruise?, hate to drag it down there and not wear it!.

One other question, I will be going on my own for Palo reservations while dh eats with DS3. Will I be able to get brunch and a dinner ressie in one go?, or do I have to line up twice?, therefore maybe loosing out on one of them?. Thinking of brunch monday and dinner early friday.

TIA, I am really enjoying this board!

Wear the kilt!!!! It sounds like fun!!! I would love to have my dh wear one but I know he never would. Since you have a dh with a fun flare for fashion, go for it!!!!

ROTFL at dh being described as having a "fun flare for fashion"......if you could see his other clothes  .

May have to get a stiff whiskey in him first!!, and "fun" is the name of the holiday right!. Thanks snowball22!.

I say wear the kilt! You have the opportunity for a lot of formal pictures so he should wear it with pride.

On the Palo's question, you will be able to make both ressies at one time. They have two people sitting at the same table and you make one right after the other. We were able to get both with no problem.

Hot????? I'm not a kilt wearer or even a fashion king, but I have always been under the impression that swift upward breeze will expose everything? How can one be hot with that?

I say go for it!

Absolutely wear the kilt! We saw a family in kilts last December, father and sons, and they looked wonderful. :)

On the inaugural western, I did see someone with a kilt on and thought it was VERY COOL. Tell your DH to go for it.

Palo's - you can make both ressies at once. For our cruise it was 2 seperate tables, but they were both fed from the same line. First you made dinner ressies than brunch.

There's just something about a man in a kilt! Wish you were going in October with us ;) ;) :D :D

we3luvdisney - the kilt is very heavy, it is made of about 8yds of pure wool I believe and the kilt socks are wool too!.

LOL, I doubt you will find him wearing it on deck!!, but if he can find a vent to stand over ;););)

Here is a picture of one like dh's but his tartan is different colours.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

Yes!! Wear it!!! On our 9/29 cruise last year, "Ducky" Williams the WDW Animator was onboard as the guest speaker! (He was AWESOME!!!!!). Anyway, he and his travelling companion wore kilts on the formal nights! They looked GREAT!!!!

Definitely wear the kilt! As I understand it, it's actually considered proper formal wear in some parts of the world, and wearing one can be a great conversation starter!

I asked the exact same question a month or so back and got the same response - DH will be packing his kilt in August! And, of course, where we come from the kilt is the most formal of formal wear! What are the chances of persuading the band to strike up an Eightsome Reel?!?!?

cumickey,

Tell your DH to wear it! I think it looks great. You may want to switch the wool socks for cotten socks. I'm sure no one would know.

DH always wears wool suits onboard in Sept so I can't see why a wool kilts would be too hot. I had a professor in college who always wore his kilt on formal occasions. And although it does usually get a second look I don't ever recall that being a bad thing.

on the 7/7 cruise last year there was a fellow who wore a kilt on both formal nights & he looked quite handsome! Go for it!
