I have a question. It might have been asked before but I can't find it. Why can't we go from PM to PM like we used to be able to do? Now I have to go back to my PM box to go to my next message.

Just double checking, Alex. When you type a word like Dick Van **** and the last word comes out as all asterisks, that's alright, isn't it? I can't get banned for that right? It's only when when we use letters and symbols to get around the filter that there is a problem?

The webmasters decide. We add new words once in a while. There is no public place to see the list and I would have to ban myself if I posted it

Yeah I thought about that after I posted. Didn't make sense to have banned words that were available for all to see.

That's correct Katholyn, since there is no intention of violating any rules you would not be in trouble

Why do we have an option to rate threads? If everyone rated every thread, would we see how it was rated, or is this another part of the sostware that youall dont use?

I posted this on the Tech Support board, regarding the trouble some people had yesterday and today accessing the DIS boards.

The problem seems to be with some DNS servers at Network Solutions (there are a small number of companies like this who provide DNS servers for the internet community, that's the service that takes a name like www.disboards.com and cross references it to an IP address so it can find the actual server where that site resides.)

Alex has been in contact with them, and they say they'll have the problem correctly "shortly."

In the meantime, if you hear of anyone who's having trouble accessing the DISboards, using the http://130.94.75.33 address should work.

With your new sig guidelines/software change coming up will that new countdown I was working on still work?

When you are in a thread, you can't start a new Post. I get inspiration from a thread and want to post a message, but have to go back to the menu (I know, I'm a complainer)
There are a couple of ways,
1. I think this is what you are asking about... If you click on the Quick Reply Icon on the bottom right of a post, it allows you type in the box on the bottom of the screen and post a quick reply.

What I don't like about this is that you have to remember what page you were on when yoy posted. If you are on a really long thread this can get quite messy.
2. What I do (OK, only when I am several pages back) is to open a MS Word document, Highlight the text I want to quote, Click Edit->Copy (or the shortcut Ctrl-c), Highlight the word document, Paste the text in with Edit->Paste (or ctrl-v). I usually also add the vbscript commands by hand (on the top of the quote it is [QUOTE=Quotee] and on the bottom it is just [/QUOTE]
You can then put everything in one post, and you only really highlight what you need.

To fimish it off, click the Post Reply Icon

and in the word Document Edit->Select All (or Ctrl-a), Edit-> Copy (ctrl-c). You can paste it into the post window with and Edit->Paste (ctrl-v)...

The New ones should work, The old ones... Well, the language used to generate them is no longer available. (That's Tech talk for"no", unless Alex can convince VBulletin to make a count-down timer VBSCRIPT )

I just realized what you were saying... Umm, The Dis Sponsor Icon in many cases is part of the TAG... Think of it as a banner proclaiming that I Support The Dis, and it is sort of a paid advertizement (although it is argueable whe the advertiser is In Effect you would have to not display the Tag not to see the sponsor Icon. If you are jealous, you could be a sponsor too, it isn't that expensive. Just click on my Sponsor Icon....Ohh, that USED TO WORK... Oh well if you want a link, I am sure someone can post one.....

Hey, I have another question... are there any good spell checkers that work with the DIS? I used to use IESPELL, but it no longer works (no WYSIWYG support)... Does anyone have any suggestions other than my "Word Trick, or using my Pen Based Laptop (the handwriting recognition fits words to what you write effectively doing a spell check)
