How 2 Set Up Voicemail on Razr Phone?

I got a new Razr phone last night, and I can't set up my voicemail. I have a Cingular plan. I tried pressing "1", but I'm told to enter my 10 digit number after my greeting. I don't have a greeting yet, and when I do enter my phone number, nothing happens.
Can anyone help me figure this out?

Try hitting either the * or the # key when you hear the "voice" talking. One of them should pull up the voicemail prompts, and then follow the directions given.
