We had an ADR for Tusker House at 8:05 this morning. We were told to be there 10-15 minutes prior-like they tell you for everything. We had a slight problem with this because there was NO ONE to let anyone in to the parking lot. Someone else had already called Disney Dining (be sure to have your cell phones and numbers with you just in case!!) and they were supposed to send someone from security to let us in. The first security person was extremely rude and said she didn't know what anyone was talking about and said she'd let someone know right away...the wait continued. The boys really did quite well until after about 15 minutes or so. Then it was a little bit harder for them.
Corbin had brough Cars with him and he was playing. Carter was having a much harder time. I have to give Corbin a lot of credit though-he was trying SO hard to keep Carter quiet. He kept giving him toys and talking to him about what we were going to see and do today. He really is a good kid.
Soon enough, someone showed up to let us in. Then it was a race to try and get the car unloaded and get through bag check and the gates. There was no problem at all with the reservation being for four and five of us actually being there.
We made our way back through the park to Tusker House. The boys and Grandma had a seat to wait while I checked in.
We only waited about five minutes before getting a table. Before being seated, we stopped for a quick picture that they would bring to our table later. We had Grandma stand with the boys. Corbin did not much want any part of this but the photographer made a deal with Corbin that he would give him a trading card if he stood there. Since I wasn't in the picture, I took a couple of my own.
We quickly sat down and got some food for the boys before the characters started coming out. Corbin was thrilled with a doughnut (he wound up eating 2 1/2!! only at Disney!) and Carter loved the fruit.
Daddy ran to get something to eat before any charactes came out. First out was Donald-Daddy did not make it back in time! Carter refers to Donald as "Don" and as soon as he spotted him he was climbing out of his highchair! Corbin was still not doing so well with characters so this was a bit of a challenge and a big person had to be with him preferably between him and the character. Thanks to another mommy sitting behind us, since Dan wasn't back, we all managed to squeeze in this picture. If you're here-THANK YOU!!
Before long, out came Mickey. This time, Grandma had gone up to get something to eat so she missed Mickey. If you're thinking about eating here, the characters come out VERY quickly! Within about half an hour of getting in the door, there were characters out and about and moving right along. There was interaction, but it was very timely and the were moving right along.
Next, out came Daisy. Carter was still in love with her and I think remembered her from the morning before at the MK. Yes that's me hiding behind Daisy in the last picture. I was touching Corbin's back so he thought I was there-I was-just trying not to be in the picture. Hopefully with a little creative cropping, it won't be as noticable.
Finally, out came "Hat"-this is what Carter calls Goofy. He immediately grabbed ahold of Hat's leg and just wouldn't let go. Poor Goofy didn't know what to do!
I took care of the bill while the boys got everything ready to head out for the day on their safari! They brought the picture package out from earlier as well. Dan and I talked while his mom was at breakfast and agreed that if it was nice, we would get it so his mom would have an "instant" picture to take with her. They managed to print the one of Corbin smiling with the three of them so it was a keeper. We were $32 lighter but when Grandma saw the picture, it was worth it! Later, when we were back in the room, I looked at the 4x6 pictures and they'd put in the little Mickey with a birthday cake picture from the photopass! Too cute! Totally worth the $32 for them.
After breakfast, Grandma took the boys and started walking towards the safari while Daddy went back to get the strollers.
The posted wait time was 20 minutes at a few minutes after 9 (park opening) but before long, we were in our vehicle and waiting for our two week safari to begin!
Up next...safari animals!
