Houston, We Have A Secret: A TX Vacation With A WDW Surprise ...aaand Done! Page 43

After our pillaging and plundering fun was over on Pirates of the Carribbean, we headed over to another of the kids' favorite attractions: The Country Bear Jamboree! I mean, who doesn't get excited to see a giant grizzly bear in ill-fitting overalls playing a harmonica? But I'm getting ahead of myself here.

When we arrived, the countdown clock outside said there were about 10 minutes before the next show. So we all settled down and got comfortable inside the queue area. And then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw Horace Horsecollar walking along the street outside. Now, it's not uncommon to see characters walking around Disney World, but it was certainly uncommon to see this character.

A few seconds later, I saw Brier Bear walking over to Horace. Now this sparked my attention, and I asked if anyone wanted to go see what was going on. Madison jumped at the chance, but Evan wanted to stay and wait for the show.

We went outside, expecting to see some kind of meet & greet set up. So far, it was just a few characters milling around, waving at kids.

I looked over my shoulder, and noticed Big Al and Brier Rabbit coming over to join their friends.

And that, my friends, is when things got funky. Music started playing, random cast members abandoned their stores, snack carts and kiosks to start a hoedown!

They were line dancing and two stepping to some western swing.

It was like a Disney Flash Mob!
Every few seconds, more and more cast members and characters just appeared and jumped right into the choreography.

And you know it can't be Disney with a little audience participation. And there can't be audience participation with out Madison!

After some Texas Two-steping, everyone formed a big circle for more dancing!

They then broke into smaller groups and did the Hokey Pokey. Everybody put your left hand in! Madison, your left hand. No, your other left. Whatever, you've got a hand in and you're having the time of your life. Just go with it!

(oh, and when Brier Bear puts "his whole self in" - he really goes for it. He charged the group and almost bowled them all over!)

Right about this time, we realized we were late for the Country Bear Jamboree, and that Bambi, Grandma & Evan were waiting for us. We dashed inside to find - the doors already closed. The show had begun without us. Madison got pretty upset because Evan was in there. She's very protective of her little brother and she was worried. I told her that mom and grandma were in there with him and he'd be fine. She was still pretty upset (to the point of tears), so I suggested some more dancing.

We went back outside, and who do we find right outside the door, just looking for a dance partner? Briar Rabbit!

Nothing cheers that girl up like a little dancin'

But all too soon, it was time for one last picture, then to say good bye.

...or so we thought.

Briar Rabbit took Madison by the hand and started walking down the street with her.

How's that for a 1000 watt smile?

IMG_6654.JPG

They walked (neigh, skipped), hand in hand, all the way back to the back stage entrance next to Splash Mountain. Brier Rabbit gestured to his handler that he wanted to take Madison back home with him. Madison, of course, was all for it, but his handler reminded him that he only had enough carrots for one, and that she didn't want Madison to go hungry. So they gave one last hug, and Brier Rabbit went on his way.

One last hug for Horace, and we made our way back to the Jamboree, foating on air and just busting at the seams to tell mom, grandma & Evan what they had missed.

Coming Up Next: Regular Stuff. I can't top what just happened, so why even try...

...or can I?

I'm not going to even give you grief in this response. That was absolutely AWESOME!!!! You can see in Madison's eyes and smile how much fun she was having. What a special and fun time for her!

Wow, great update! I didn't even know they had a Hoedown of this sorts in Frontierland. Madison looks like she is having the time of her life! What a magical moment!! :woohoo:

Um. A Frontierland flash mob??? That is seriously the most awesome thing ever. I think it would be pretty fun to go live at Chick-a-Pin Hill with Brer Rabbit! And I thought he also grew spinach and lettuce in addition to carrots. That seems like enough food to go around! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 thats was a great story barry. madison will always remember that.:thumbsup2 i was looking at the audiance participation and i see you were the photographer???:confused3 if i had to hula at ohanas, you should of had to two step in front.land.:lmao: (before you ask, no, theres no pictures!!! thats why i carry the camera!! just never know when you are going to make a fool out of yourself is my motto!!:lmao:)

I'm glad Madison had a great time despite missing the Country Bear Jamboree. That's a great picture of her and Br'er Rabbit in front of the Mercantile!

Your right! Madison does have a million dollar smile. :teeth: What a fantastic moment to stumble upon. She will remember that one for sure!

Awesome… :goodvibes

I don’t even dare to pick on any part of that update. If there are folks on this Earth that don’t believe that magic is built into everything Disney, they just need to see this.

Interesting reference, but I guess it fits!:lmao:

Every few seconds, more and more cast members and characters just appeared and jumped right into the choreography.
Did I even see Clarabelle Cow in the background of one of the pictures?

And you know it can't be Disney with a little audience participation. And there can't be audience participation with out Madison!
That girl definitely knows how to get right into the Disney magic.pixiedust:

Cool! Although that commercial where the guy starts the flash mob early has kind of ruined flash mobs for me.

So did you start looting the souvenir kiosks? :rotfl2:

I'm being blinded as we speak! This is so cool!

Talk about magical. What a great moment! :goodvibes

I...I...I don't know how to react when someone's not making fun of me. :rotfl2:
She was having an absolute blast.

Wow, great update! I didn't even know they had a Hoedown of this sorts in Frontierland. Madison looks like she is having the time of her life! What a magical moment!! :woohoo:
I had heard of it before, but it's never on any schedule or Times Guide. I guess they don't want to have crowds of people hanging around waiting for it. If it's "spontaneous", the people lucky enough to be there get a nice little dose of Disney Magic.

I don't know, that Fox hanging around with the ax might be a bit of a turn-off for me. :lmao:

I didn't do too much dancing here, but on our Summer trip (which I hope to do a TR for:sad2:) I was busting a move with Phineas and Ferb.

I'm glad Madison had a great time despite missing the Country Bear Jamboree. That's a great picture of her and Br'er Rabbit in front of the Mercantile!
I wish I could take credit for that one, but there was a Photopass photographer hanging around and that was one of hers.

Your right! Madison does have a million dollar smile. :teeth: What a fantastic moment to stumble upon. She will remember that one for sure!
I can still see her skipping and swinging Brer Rabbit's hand as they walked along the street...:goodvibes

Wow. Just got caught up on your TR and what a day. Madison is such a lucky little girl. You can't tell at all that she is having the time of her life in those pictures. I don't think she could have gotten any bigger of a smile. And I bet your was just as big. :) Those pictures you have of her are priceless.

And that Evan. What a little corker. He is so funny. Love the one with him and the girls.

Can't wait for the next update. :thumbsup2

Agreed! Sometimes when we're sitting down going over the vacation budget, it's hard to justify the cost of a trip to WDW. But something like this tends to happen on every trip, and every penny spent is worth it.

Did I even see Clarabelle Cow in the background of one of the pictures?
Yes. Yes you did.
That girl definitely knows how to get right into the Disney magic.pixiedust:
I will be very disappointed if she doesn't end up working there during the college program.
That is what makes Disney what it is.:cloud9:

Great pictures.
::yes:: and thank you

If you can, it will be extremely impressive.:lmao:
:rolleyes1
I know. You're more of a banjo guy, aren't you?

Cool! Although that commercial where the guy starts the flash mob early has kind of ruined flash mobs for me.
Idiot. You would think that he would have noticed the lack of music, don't you think?

So did you start looting the souvenir kiosks? :rotfl2:
Didn't you read the first sentence of the entry? We got that all out of our systems on PoTC.

Besides, they left one person behind to keep an eye on the good stuff. :rolleyes1

Wow, great picture. That's a keeper. :thumbsup2
:thumbsup2

I'm being blinded as we speak! This is so cool!
You've met her - that smile is infectious, isn't it?

Talk about magical. What a great moment! :goodvibes
Totally! At first, I didn't know what was going on. Then I was like "duh, It's Disney. Where Magic Lives."

I admit, I had to Google "corker". I don't think I've ever heard it before. (But the definition totally fits. :goodvibes)

Love the Hoedown and sooooo want to see it/take part lol!

I also missed the update before and I'm luvin the pic with Evan's moves for the ladies!

That is what Disney is all about. It is also why we all keep going back. :goodvibes

It was a really cool experience. I'm not sure if the cast members are actual food service/merchandise employees that they trained to dance or if they are entertainers that just pretend to hang around the stores until the music starts. Either way, it's impressive.

That is what Disney is all about. It is also why we all keep going back. :goodvibes

Agreed! We went to the local Six Flags park in Chicago a few weekends ago. We mostly used it as a reminder why we go to Disney so much. :thumbsup2
