We've had several instances where we were given a room where someone else had already checked into and several where we'd checked in to a room and then someone else was checked into the same room including once late at night waking us up to someone trying to open the bolted door. And we've had instances where we came back and people were working on the room unannounced. I'd say that most of the time hotels and timeshares do a good job of handling these issues when they have the opportunity for advanced planning but sometimes they don't. In Savannah we came back to our timeshare villa to find someone changing out the TV's, wiring, etc. It was a major project and was going to take several hours. We needed to get changed, shower and go out and while they have the legal right, I am not comfortable with them doing so when I'm not there. Heck, I'm not comfortable with valet parking or bell services taking my things. It is always a good Idea to use the inner lock when you are in your room.
We had an interesting experience years ago. We check into our room everything looks good. One of my kids gets on the bed and it is wet. Further inspection looks like a person laid down on the bed wet. Then we look closer around the room find a two drink glasses in the sink in the trash can and a t shirt and bikini bottom in the dryer. Everything else was as it should be upon arrival
Seems like the room was done and some how the prior guests came back in after a couple of morning cocktails and last dip in the pool or hot tub . laid on the bed wet and...
I guess some how mouse keeping cleaned the room and the prior guests key cards were still active.
We spoke to the manger who was dumbfounded but assured us that our were the only key cards active for that room. They had housekeeping come back and change everything while we were out .
I think he sent up cupcakes or something .
fortunately the kids were very young so they did not ask what I thought caused the bed to be wet
