Will housekeeping ever be making a come back? Looking to stay in Grand Destino in early 22. Not sure if it’s available now or what? But read it’s not what it was pre pandemic

Last I read I think it's just trash/towel service every other day? It's not back to full house-keeping.

You can call if you need more towels/toiletries, etc.

Once we went DVC and didn't get daily housekeeping, we realized we actually prefer not having it every day! Every day was pretty much overkill during the stay. I'd really prefer they use their staff more efficiently, and help guests get into their new rooms when other guests have left.

We had a split universal/ Disney stay and got regular daily housekeeping at universal (didn’t get any at all in June) but Disney is still every other day towel and trash. Starting to come back outside of Disney anyway. Idk if they did a room check during our wilderness lodge stay since we weren’t in our room that much

So I take it that WDW does not have daily housekeeping as it was pre pandemic?

Being very cynical here, but why should it? People are paying full price and still going, Di$ney is making a lot of money and people have just accepted it. Maybe one day they will bring it back, but I am doubtful that will happen for a while.

You bring a valid point. They probably will - perhaps 1X a stay or add it as a service for those wanting it. But yeah it's about the profits for them and the service can come a bit later.

I stayed at a hotel a few weeks ago, and the rooms were only serviced at check out or on certain days a week, so I think this is more of an industry wide issue....but A LOT of hotel chains have decided to skimp on housekeeping as it's an expense they can eliminate.

We’re at the Polynesian right now and have had no housekeeping at all. There were housekeeping carts in the hallway outside our room yesterday. We had just gotten in from the pool and put the “room occupied” sign on our door, and no one even knocked to check our room.

I’m disappointed with not having daily housekeeping. I take out the trash daily out home…I’m not paying these very high room rates to take out my own trash on vacation. Today my daughter and I took our used towels to the pool towel drop and brought some clean ones back to our room. It‘s annoying to not have enough towels in the room for our entire stay. If they’re not going to offer housekeeping, they could at least leave enough towels (and coffee) in the room to last my entire stay. I called this morning to ask for more towels, but they were never brought up to us.

I did not choose the housekeeping opt-out option when I did online check-in.

First are you in a DVC unit using points, rented points or a regular resort room?

This is the key to your housekeeping options.

Call Housekeeping again a ask to speak to a supervisor. They should have delivered the towels you requested. They can bring a couple days of towels and coffee items for a few days.

We’re in a regular room. I’m going to try calling again tomorrow before we leave, but it’s almost silly at this point. We’re leaving on Wednesday. We’re fine with using pool towels in the room, and I bought some coffee today. I’m just a little bit annoyed that I am paying a rather large amount to have not even basic housekeeping. I’m now wondering if possibly I chose “no housekeeping” by mistake or my answer was mis-recorded. :confused3

This is our first time staying in a regular resort room and not DVC since pre-pandemic times. Even when we’ve stayed cash at DVC, we’ve only had housekeeping about twice during our stay. I thought at least housekeeping would take our trash daily staying in a regular room (I know they aren’t making beds, which I actually prefer), but that hasn’t been my experience this trip. Oh well. I’ve noticed other people leaving trash in the hall, but I’m not doing that. It’s easy enough to just throw it in the trash bin on our way out in the morning.

We were at the GF in May. We had trash-and-towel service every other day. Other than that--zero housekeeping. Unless something changed between then and now, I don't believe you selected "no housekeeping"--there just isn't any. But I'm surprised that you didn't get trash-and-towel service.

Just returned from an eight day stay at the beach club and trash and towel service for every other day I did always leave a little note with my mouse keeping tip envelope to please leave extra towels and coffee and they did. I do find it deplorable and disgusting though the amount of garbage people sit out in their halls at the hotel. Staff does not pick up , they either need to have a place for people to take this trash or do rounds to pick up I don’t wanna see peoples filthy trays dirty food bags or garbage cans with soiled diapers etc.

With housekeeping being a job that gets a good amount of tips I wonder how this new policy is effecting their tips. I leave money daily for housekeeping. If they aren’t coming they are out that cash.

I travel for work and when I do, they do not clean the room at all until I leave. I can take towels to front desk for replacements. There just is a huge shortage of staffing to clean everywhere I go. My company only uses Hilton's and usually there is only one or two forward people working in the hotel at all times. I am used to it.

But, this is another advantage of doing split stays. Our December trip is three way split between OKW for 3 nights , SSR for 2 nights, and CR TPV the last night for my grandtinker. We will get 3 new, clean rooms and it will work out for housekeeping.

I also always tip housekeeping. For the last trip, with service only every other day, I left a tip every other day, but I left twice as much as I ordinarily do.

It must be difficult to be a housekeeper at WDW right now, since it's much harder to clean a room only at the end of a guest's stay than it is to clean it every day, and it's obvious they're woefully understaffed.

That is not the fault of the guests but the resort. I've seen this at plenty of hotels recently unfortunately because of lack of house keeping

We’ve been here since Friday and have had no housekeeping at all— no trash pick up, no towels. That’s why I’m starting to wonder if I accidentally chose no housekeeping. Even if it’s every other day, we should have had trash collected and fresh towels at least once.

I paid almost the same price to stay at the Four Seasons in July, and there was daily housekeeping. I’m not sure I want to keep paying full price to stay on site when I could have an actual deluxe experience staying elsewhere. We have a stay planned for Thanksgiving, but after that, I’m not sure we will continue staying on site.
