House Swap close to the parks?

Hi all,

My DH and I are teachers. We both have the summer (July/Aug) off and thought it would be awesome if we could spend a month down in the Orlando area. Unfortunately we are teachers and that means we cannot afford to rent a place for a month!

Has anyone ever done a house swap (either in Orlando or elsewhere)? We would be willing to let someone live in our house for a month (references checked etc of course) if we could use their place in FL.

Where in CT are you? Adding information like the town you have, how many bedrooms and baths, and any amenities you've got to offer would probably be a good idea with a post like this. Also would you be bringing kids and/or pets and do you have the same?

What I'd really suggest is to get int touch with the various colleges and universities in the area--there are a LOT but most are 45 minutes or more from WDW and see if anyone is interested.

One problem you'll run into is that schools here start back up in early August, so most educators would want their home back in late July early August.

You might find a snow bird who is willing to rent their house inexpensively in the summer months when they are up north--check around locally to find them.

We've often wondered about doing this as well...but we live in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia - so no luck switching with you folks!!

The not-so-great thing is that we would want to switch in January/February, and lets just say the weather here in Jan/Feb...well, it's not so hot

But hey, if someone wants to experience crisp, snowy days, logs on the fire, warm, creamy hot chocolate after a day of sledding on our back hill, or skiing at Ben Eoin (overlooking the fabulous Bras D'Or Lakes)...

...we'd love to have you!!

Any websites people have had experience with? Any personal stories of house exchanges?

If you're curious, we live in central CT in a 3 bdrm/2 ba house with an acre of land. 1.5 hrs from Boston, 20 min to Hartford, well located for day trips to the shore, Mystic, etc.
