House Guest Rant!

Had it been me having the younger brother, wife & *4 kids* (that's a LOT of extra people!) coming for the length of time you mentioned, this is what I'd have done: Gotten the crock pot out & cranked out a huge amount of spaghetti or a roast with potatoes & gravy. Kept it in the fridge till needed. Had on hand all types of sandwich makings & microwavable breakfasts along with all types of drinks & juices. A few popular snacks thrown in for good luck! I just don't see getting by any other way.....unless you want to take everyone out! I was just taught this was the way to behave when opening up your home to guests. :confused3

*For one who can't, or doesn't like to cook, you can always pick up frozen Lasagna or similar type meals that will feed a crowd. Nothing wrong with that.* And for those who "complain" about not liking what I serve, I wouldn't let that bother me a bit....remember, sandwich makings are in the kitchen!

Holy toledo Batman! My 5 yo DS alone could have eaten two apples, drank all that juice and eaten the whole box of cereal in two days. And he still would have been starving. Now, I have stayed with sisters before with two of my kids and my sisters are quite a bit older than I am and have way older kids than I do. They did the same thing as you--went to the store and asked what they could get. I felt really uncomfortable saying anything and my kids aren't picky, but my sister came back with tons of stuff anyway.

We were invited however, didn't ask ourselves if we could stay there, but I don't think it would have mattered. Especially since three other sisters claimed they "had dibs on us" for the next trip. We were there for 5 days.

I think you are just not used to having little kids around and I agree that it sounds like you didn't like them very much before their stay. However, my kids would NEVER jump on the furniture at someone else's house nor would we leave a big mess for the hostess to clean up. That is unexecusable behavior and I bet it led to you having stronger feelings about the food issues too. I also send a nice gift after we get home.

Was the OP scared off? Please don't leave us. :teeth:

Brandon, come over to my house and teach me how to use this crock pot!
