Hotwire hotel bookings San Diego and general hotel info

Another good forum is biddingfortravel.com

Three years ago I booked a 4 star room in downtown San Diego via Hotwire for $89 per night for 5 nights. We got the Westin Hotel which was pretty decent.

We had a nice view and the kids enjoyed swimming in the pool on the hotel's roof. Make sure you check on parking fees because most San Diego hotels charge for parking. Ours was $15 per day, but we parked in meters on the street (they don't check them after 9:00pm and we' put some change in the meter in the morning before we'd leave for the day. You also have to watch out for the street sweepers when parking on the street.

Okay, since then I mostly bid on priceline.com. I check the hotwire prices first, read the forums to determine what hotel I may get and then bid less than hotwire. If you have an entertainment book, there is a $10 rebate coupon for Hotwire that you can use to bring your price down even more (you have to send in for it and they credit your credit card a few weeks later).
