Ok, so now that I have my Hotwire car rental and I know that it is Hertz, what next. We do not have any major credit cards and stick to paying for most things with the money we have. We won't be turned away will we? The rental is paid for, of which I think we got a good deal, $195 for 9 days for a mid-size. Better than anything were we getting on other websites.

Thanks for all of your help!

That's a great deal !!! I'm paying $131 for a compact for 29 hours.

Wow, that is a lot for such a short time period. Have you ever used Hotwire or is that the rate through them? I have never used Hotwire until today so I hope it all works out ok.

If you go to the Hertz website here is their policy on debit cards.

Can I use my Debit Card or Bank Card to reserve a Hertz car?
A:
At most Hertz locations, debit cards (sometimes called check cards) issued under a VISA or Mastercard logo which draw funds directly from the cardholder's account may be used to qualify for rental. However, prepaid or stored value cards which have a VISA or Mastercard logo are not accepted to qualify for rental. Debit cards must have available funds for the estimated amount of the rental charges plus a reasonable amount to cover any incidental charges in order to secure the rental. Both debit cards and prepaid or stored value cards issued under a VISA or Mastercard logo may be used as a form of payment when you return the vehicle. Please contact your local Hertz Reservations Office if you have a question about whether Hertz will accept a certain card.

Thank you for that information. I too saw this, but I guess I need to find out if they will hold out the amount of my car rental ($195) even though it is pre-paid plus the $140 that they show on their website.

Anyone know:rolleyes1

There is usually minimums, around $250.00 regardless of method of payment. Regarding using a debit card, I would NEVER recommend someone use a debit card for a rental car.

I also got my best rate using Hotwire, and we booked Hertz. I'm actually paying less for 10 days, then for a week using Dollar and (what I still think) a pretty decent corporate discount. My last rental experience at MCO was insane. It took hours, Avis was so busy. So I hope this trip goes smoother.
