The actual "trick or treat" event, where they gave out candy was not just in the atrium last year on the Magic. There were multiple stations on deck 3, I don't remember even one of them in the atrium. It was a lot of fun, afterward we stopped at a bar on deck 3, drank beer and ate candy.
Can you be more specific about "multiple stations on deck 3"? All the Navigators I've seen say the Mickey’s Mouse-Querade Party (Enjoy a fun trick or treat Mouse-Querade featuring music, games, and of course treats.) is in the atrium.

We love the Merrytime cruises - our 3rd coming up next month. The decorations, the arrival of Santa Claus and snow in the atrium, the characters dressed in their Christmas finest, hot chocolate and cookies...all good! We made the gingerbread house which was not only a lot of fun but yummy too. We went to ornament making and elf making activities as well. Yes, they did get very crowded but we just go there early enough to get a seat (same thing we do for character photos!). Definitely would do it again! Halloween cruises don't work out time-wise for us but we're not big into Halloween anyway.

I know there was one set up right outside of Fathoms, we hit that right after bingo. There was also one between the Promenade Lounge and Lumiere's. The Lounge had many people in it eating their candy. I know we didn't hit them all and I'm not sure how many there were. This was one of the last days of HOTHS, and they were making it clear that they wanted to get rid of the rest of the Halloween candy.

Well, OK, both of those are not "in" the atrium. But, pretty darn close.

We have done the HOTHS cruise before, and we have a Merrytime cruise coming up, so can't answer the question just yet. I can say Im very excited for the VM cruise, but it is over Christmas, so it's a little extra special. I will miss the opportunity to dress up that you get on HOTHS, because we are adults, and Halloween is the only time we can do that! I'm pretty sure it is going to be awesome, as any Disney cruise would be. I will let you know my opinion afterwards - won't be of any help for booking this year, but might help for next year :thumbsup2
