We have never stayed on property and although we would love to, with a family of six we don't want to be in a cramped room. We usually stay at a condo at Windsor Hills. I was just curious why anyone would stay off-site at a hotel when they can stay at a condo which is much bigger and cheaper. We get a three bedroom condo for just a little more than 100.00 per night. I just wasn't sure if I was missing something.

Well we do both and some reasons why we would stay at a hotel:
- Not going for a full week so the rate may not be much different.
- Daily housekeeping.
- No plans to do laundry so we get clean towels every day.
- No plans to do any cooking so only need a small fridge for drinks.
- Breakfast included especially good ones like Embassy Suites.
- Financial transaction is easier and we like to build Hilton points.
- Trips where it's simply a bed, we don't need the space, won't be there long enough.
- Sometimes location, like Doubletree Suites at DTD allows us to walk. We are all over 21.

have stayed in some nice hotels that were pretty cheap - so I understand staying offsite in a hotel or condo (timeshare too)
the timeshare got on sale for $223 (including tax) - the motel including tax was $160 for the week. this was for a 1-bedroom vs a small motel room. had my cat and the timeshare was even more $50 extra fee - and the motel did not charge extra for pets.

Personally, I would stay in condo type room every time, even if I'm eating out every meal and won't utilize the kitchen etc. But I don't like to be cramped while on vacation, even if I'm only in the room to mostly sleep

-restaurants
-room service
-someone else making my bed
-fresh towels and linens without me washing them
-great pools with cocktail & food service
-spa
-fitness centers
-paying for the entire stay using points

We've stayed in both hotels and villas during our stays at WDW - We personally enjoy staying in a villa more now! I would never have said that before I stayed off property! You can't beat the space and private pool/hot tub for virtually the same amount as a hotel! The last 2 times we've visited we've stayed at Windsor Hills too in a beautiful lakefront villa https://www.facebook.com/OrlandoLakefrontVilla?fref=nf
We had kids with us who were a little too young to handle full days at the parks, so it's great to come and go as we pleased for some half days with a lazy morning spent in the house. They had space to spread out and play without getting under each others feet! We also found it kept the costs down a little as we could go to Target or Walmart to buy food so we weren't eating out for every meal. I know dining plans are pretty good but we still found that we saved money overall on food in a villa.
