OK...between OKW and BWV which studio is more modern, clean, and newly updated?! My first pick would be BWV. Stayed for the first time last month in a 1 bdrm and loved it. Never stayed at OKW. Can only get a studio next time around, it will be 3 of us, myself, husband and 8yr old daughter.
What would you pick and why? And yes, given the title of this post, we are hotel snobs

:yay::Pinkbounc:scratchin
BWI/BWV is our favorite resort, so I'm a bit biased. Just for location alone, I would stick with BWV. Walking to two parks, tons of restaurants and amenities.
You’re so right, that’s why I’m leaning that way too. I’m told OKW studios are huge so we may be more comfortable in OKW. I’m confused. LoL

OKW is currently undergoing room renovations, so depending on when your trip is, you might have a really good chance of getting a newly renovated room.
But BWV is in such a great location as it is walkable to two parks.

For me, it would come down to the type of trip I was booking. If the trip was more focused on relaxation, hanging out by the pool, enjoying restaurants (Disney Springs) I would pick OKW. But if the main focus of the trip was going to parks, I'd pick BWV.

Another thing to consider is bed layout.

A studio at OKW will have two Queen beds. A studio at Boardwalk will have one queen bed, a sofa bed, and a pull down single bed. If it's important to you that your daughter have a "real" bed, then OKW would work better for you.

Trip wouldn’t be until next August. With the husband coming he’s not Into spending a ton of time at the parks, hates walking in the heat. Do you know if they are gut renovating or just updating furniture? Those bathrooms at OKW look rough!

Being the 2 resorts you speak of are DVC I suppose you own or are renting DVC.
Not including parks as your husband does not like to go.
I like OKW for the boat rides to DS the laid back feeling and the size of the rooms... as a bonus Olivia's is a great place to eat. OKW will also offer far more area to just do nothing...
BWV the rooms are small may seem more modern but that is just the theme of each hotel... There are far less places to relax at the BW but does have a few nice areas and the halls are indoors.
Unless he likes to watch sports and will spend time at a Bar --ESPN-- I would think OKW to be the better choice as this is it is great place to blow a day doing nothing....and or be able to take a relaxing boat ride.
If I had a person who was not going to the parks coming for similar points I would consider AKL Jambo house as there are just many indoor areas to relax and watch the animals. The rooms are nicer than both the above mentioned and it is a very unique hotel in the décor and having a savannah.
However in my humble opinion none of these resorts would be classified as a place a Hotel Snob would stay -- maybe AKL as they have some amazing suites, you should be considering GF, Poly and BLT should you want a step up in service and amenities compared to the rest of the DVC hotels.

The bathroom is the main focus of this renovation. And removing every bit of Key West that was left in the OKW villas.

I’d love GF or POLY, but using mom’s DVC points and trying to stay conservative :) I know amenities are not as great as GF, but mainly looking for clean and updated. I YouTubed and saw a newly renovated studio at OKW, I saw they updated that dreadful bathroom, which is great! From what I can see it does look like a resort you can hang out and relax all day. Thanks for your input :flower1:

I’m not sure if you’re happy or upset about this reno, but from what I saw on YouTube and in photos the bathrooms were in desperate need of gut renovations, and I’m glad they are doing just that! Makes me possibly want to stay there :)

They are gray. Not the Key West green, peach, yellow colors. The bathroom cabinets no longer have drawers to put your bathroom items in. Now there are just shelves under the sinks.

Honestly, though the rooms at OKW may be newer, I’d choose BWV every time for the theming and location there - there’s so much more to do nearby.

But at OKW you are a short boat ride to Disney Springs. A lot more there than at the BW.

Are you forgetting that you are within walking distance (or you can take the boat) of Epcot and Hollywood Studios? A lot more to do there than at Disney Springs, which in my opinion is an expensive shopping mall.

If you have a park hopper.

If you like a resort with a lot of activity ( Boardwalk has so much fun entertainment, the games and the location just has so much to offer ) then I'd stay BWV. OKW is a lovely resort but it always seems a bit more laid back - they still have the typical Disney resort activities ( games by the pool etc ) but, IMO, it's more of a resort to turn off, kick back and relax.

Does your mom own points at bwv? You say you are trying to be conservative with her points and pick between okw and bwv. If you are looking at a standard studio at bwv, she will need to own points there and book early to snag one of those studios for you.

I would pick bwv over okw everytime. We find the studios at okw to be very loud due to the placement of the outside door and the fact they all open right to the parking lot.

If your mom doesn’t own bwv points, she will most likely only be able to reserve a pool/garden studio at bwv at the 7 month mark. Those studios are very close in points with other dvc studios, so you will have more options.

No she doesn’t own at bwv...I didn’t realize it would be that difficult to get a standard view 7 months out. If that’s the case then OKW it will have to be!
