Hotel Royal Plaza

Has anybody got any recent info on this hotel?

Its been mentioned for next year's possible Orlando trip.

Is it within walking distance of Downtown Disney and is their transportation system impressive or poor?

I was there many moons ago and would like to go back.

We stayed at Royal Plaza Hotel for one night before our stay at the Polynesian in August. I thought the hotel was very nice - large room, comfortable beds and a pull out sofa. The rate we got ($72.00) was very reasonable. The walk to DTD is a little bit long but certainly doable. We did not use their transportation since we had our own car. We had a wing room with a not so nice view of Rt. 4 (you could hear the trucks rumbling by). For one night it was okay but I would not want this particular room for an entire stay. It would be hard to sway me from staying on site no matter how nice the hotel was anyway.
