Well after a few week of searching and not really seeing anything suitable for parts of our road trip that fits our family of 5 in one room i have decided to look at multiple room options !!

Can not believe how many more options are available and also the huge difference in price !!some are almost half price and more to book 2 rooms instead of the 1 larger room:mad:

Also lots of options coming up in much more nicer rating hotels 4* for the same price as what i have been looking it barely scraping 3* family rooms.

Im really torn now as im all dazzled by the luxury hotel options popping up but also sad that we may have to split up some nights and take multiple rooms ( defo think this is our best option for the miami portion though)

Go for 2 room options ..... do you really want 5 people in one room & 1 bathroom ?

Glad that you have spent time looking it is a well worth option

Have you tried airbnb, they have non traditional options like condos and such.

5 people in one room does not make for a good holiday.
I'd be looking at renting a property with tha number of people. So much more space!
I find the new "resort fees" the most frustrating thing about trying to shop for hotels in Orlando now. This is a practise that should be outlawed since the fees aren't optional. It essentially allows hotels to charge the price in two instalments making it more difficult for the customer to see the total cost of their purchase (FWIW, Expedia is the best website for clearly showing these charges).

If you could guarantee adjoining rooms (i.e. With an internal door between rooms) it seems like you have found a great option in the two room suggestion. Two bathrooms has to be a bonus. For what it's worth we had a one bed villa at WDW this year and my teenagers were so much happier with their own space. Not quite the same I know, but I would definitely consider two rooms now. That said DS is 17 and 6 foot 2 so Indont have to worry about him lol!

do you need to contact the hotels directly to look at adjoining rooms options??

kids are all quite young and small 6,7,9 so just means having 1 adult in each room which is a shame as my hubby works away so to then spend our holidays apart as well would be a bit rubbish.

yes i have also looked at air bnb but just dont feel ok with it seems to look good initially then adds various fees on

We have never noticed any issues having 1 bathroom? at home or on holiday ( i do often shove all 3 kids in the 1 shower though)

I have lots of 5 person options in orlando and keys on my list now !! so just miami and gulf coast to work on , or i can just do like last trip and not book anything for road trip !!

I think somebody mentioned on your other thread abut Shorewalk Vacation Villas at Bradenton. We stayed there in 2012 and they were really nice. Plenty of room for 5 of you.

Yes it was me. We haven't stayed there but it is on my radar as a possible one time. Anna Maria island is pricey with minimum stays, Bradenton isn't far.

Have you tried sunny isles for Miami. Bit further out but Miami Art Deco rooms are small are geared to couples.

we stayed at sunny isles on our last road trip , landed on a total bargain 2 bed suite with ocean view right on the beach for £104.pn!! cant find anything even close to that this time , the same hotel is full for our dates , but am hoping some more options pop up as we get closer still quite a way off Aug 2016

Sounds like a bargain - do you mind sharing the name as one year we will head down Miami way again

not at all it was the newport beachside resort , i had been panicking as had some bad trip advisor reviews but we loved it ,it wasnt the newest furnishings but very clean and the location was view was lovely plus having 2 beds and living/kitchen area after leaving our onsite disney hotel felt huge !!
however it did only have valet parking and was pricey but i believe that is standard in most miami hotels

Will have a look thanks. Yes valet is the way in Miami bugged dh when we stayed at Cardozo on south beach.
