Hotel Near LegoLand

Looking for a Hotel near LegoLand. The first time we stayed in the area we stayed a hotel that was quite frightening. Don't want to have the same experience.

I know there are opining a hotel on Legoland but it seems expensive.

Where do you stay that is close by with a pool for the kids and quick to go to WDW the next morn. Not looking to spend a lot of money but I need a much better place that the last one. That was a big mistake.

We've been down to LegoLand twice and both times had a crappy hotel. There was no rooms anywhere but the HoJo the first time we went, bad, no smoking policy not enforced, dirty hallways and so on. We are not snobs, have stayed in hostels and B & B, also some nicer hotels but I wouldn't go back there. The manager couldn't figure out how to charge us the room rate we booked under & the "free breakfast" didn't happen because they forgot to go get food. ( Not a problem for us but overheard another family talking to front desk in lobby.)

Second time we stayed a little further away thinking we'd get better accommodations at Imperial Swan. Nope! We called and specifically asked about non-smoking room, was reassured it was no problem, they understood about my son and the breathing treatments. The smoking area is at the front door. You have to walk through the smokers to just check in. Trash on floor, in elevator.

When I did Legoland survey I mentioned we wouldn't be back unless there were better hotels available, I'm glad they built one but like you it looks a bit pricey. Hope you find something you like. Maybe you can score a room and the Holiday Inn, it's always full down there when we check.

But another tip, eat at Andy's while you're down there. Small, old timey diner, great food and ice cream! We've gone 3 times.

Yes, stay at the Hampton Inn in Lake Wales on Hwy 27. It's about 10 minutes from the park, but a nice, newer hotel.

We're going in June and ran into the same problem. We are renting a house in Southern Dunes on VRBO for rates cheaper than most hotel rooms.

Side note, I love that place! I used to drive by it going to work the year I was pregnant. Sometimes I would stop for a shake on the way home. It was also the last meal I ate the day I was induced with my son. Is it still cash only?

Yep, as far as I know it's still cash only at Andy's. Just checked their Facebook page & they've got it listed "cash only"

If you're staying near Legoland, you're not going to get to Disney real quick the next morning, it'll be at least an hour drive. There are hotels on Rte 192 in Kissimmee that aren't too bad, that will be about a 50-60 minute drive to Legoland, and 15 to Disney. There are also hotels on Rte 27 in Davenport and Haines City that would be more half-way between Legoland and Disney, but I don't know what they're like.

Yes, but there is an ATM inside now.

Coming from someone who makes that commute 2-4 times a week, its more like 40-45 minutes from Legoland to Disney.

We stayed at WBC and drove to Legoland; it was about 45 min and the roads were mostly 4 lanes with midling traffic (visited early June). It was much closer than going to our "local" amusement park from home, so not a big deal at all. And you'll find nicer places to stay, maybe cheaper, in the Orlando area.

Is the Hampton Inn Legoland shuttle pretty good or would it be better to drive ourselves to the park?

We just came back from a stay at the Hampton Inn. The room felt a bit dated but it had free breakfast. The shuttle is pretty good it picks up for the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn next door. It's a small shuttle and will only go between the hotels at certain times. The nice thing is if it gets too crowded, they make extra runs to get you to Legoland and it saves $17 in parking.
