I am planning a trip with my DD and another mom and her DD to NYC in either June or July.

I was looking at hotels near Times Square. I found a promo at the W for little over $200 a night (we are staying 3 nights). I am thinking this is a good deal for a nice hotel.

Anyone stay at the W before?

Any other hotel suggestions?

I would appreciate it!

TravelZoo is running a special for less than $200.00 at the Hotel Mela.
This sounds very nice.
It says close to Times Square.
From what I see, it is just a block.

The Millenium is right on Times Square - and also frequently offers good rates thru TravelZoo.

Tripadvisor is a good web-site to do research.

My husband works frequently in the W in Times Square. (He does management for corporate meetings and events.) He says that the hotel is very nice and that the rooms, while not huge, are also nice. When I told him the price you mentioned, he thought it sounded like quite a bargain!

I just used Hotwire and got the Doubletree Suites In Times Square for $148. That's in March though. I would check out Hotwire and also Travelzoo. Are you staying in one room or getting 2? I'm assuming 1 so Priceline is out b/c they don't guarantee 2 beds. Hotwire allows you the option of 4 people.

We stayed there last February break - nice and large for NYC and you can't get more Times Square than where this hotel is. Really bad restaurant tho - make sure you always go out!

DH & I have stayed at the Marriott Marquis many many times and always loved it. Have lovely rooms, lovely service.

Now my DS has stayed at the W every time he goes to NYC and just raves about it. One time recently when he was staying there with friends, someone ordered a salad from room service, it took forever. DS could not understand why a salad, a cold salad would take so long. The W apologized for the lengthy wait and said FREE ROOM SERVICE for you for the rest of the weekend. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that is one amazing hotel. :thumbsup2

We stayed at the Marriott Marquis last summer and loved it. Great location!

Thanks! We're only going for one night though so we'll probably eat on the run, lol. I tried to add a night so that Dh and DS could join us and it is $409 rack rate. I'm going to call and see if they can do better...like $200 better:lmao:

We stay at the Royalton. 44 W. 44th St. (It's right across the street from the Algonquin.) It's a really cool hotel with a modern vibe.

The rooms run about $250-$275 -- but they have a 20% off special right now if you book more than 60 days in advance and pay with booking.

We have not stayed at that W but at another one in NYC and really enjoyed the service. I don't think you can go wrong there, especially at that price. Fantastic location.

Last time we stayed in the city we were at the Westin on 8th and 43rd and really enjoyed our stay.

I usually use hotels.com and we paid $200 (suites of course) and this was presidents week. Good luck!

Affinia Manhattan, on 7th Ave.

This was a wonderful hotel for us; directly across from Penn Station and about a 10 minute walk from Times Square.

Orbitz found us a room for a little less than $200 a night (we stayed for 1 night). Nice rooms w/2 queen-sized beds and a kitchenette. Dunkin Donuts next door, cab station across the street, etc.

Definately worth a look! :thumbsup2:

I am in the process of looking for a room now for the night of the 12th...
I am so glad to see this thread!!

for the "W" promo - where did you find the promo or did you get something specific for yourself? Would you mind sharing.

Also anyone know if any hotel in the city Time Sq area offers parking as part of the cost??

I also looked at the "W" in Hoboken and thought of just taking the ferry across to the city.

Thanks for the help.

I cannot think of any off the top o my head that include parking. I think you still have to pay for parking at the W in Hoboken. The PATH train would be cheaper and more convenient than the ferry, not sure if they have a shuttle that runs to the ferry. The one by the PATH only goes downtown so the uptown one would be where most of the tourist destinations are. Not sure how well they run off peak but the downtown one does not run on weekends.

Hi Melisazack,

The deal is on the W website and you must reserve with your American Express card. You get the third night free so it averages to about $200.

They do have a deal which includes parking (I think) but it wasn't as good.

I am going to check out some of these other hotels. I love to try new hotels, but also want to make sure they are nice so I appreciate your recommendations.

My DD and her friend are so excited. We are going to do the typical tourist stuff (broadway show, Statue of Liberty, Museum of Natural History) but I think the will also love just being in Times Square so I am wanting to stay near there.

I will check out travelzoo. I have never used them before.

Thanks for your help everyone!

I have stayed at the W Times Square a couple of times. It is a very nice hotel. The rooms are small but I think most Manhattan hotel rooms are small. The beds are extremely comfortable and they have great linens and bath products. The bathrooms are a little unusual in that they have a sliding screen instead of a full seperate bath door. The walls to the bath are not completely opaque--you can see shadows of who is in the bath. Not sure if that matters to you but it's not as private as a typical bathroom.

The rooms we have had have great views down into Times Square. The hallways and lobbies are quite dark but all Ws are like that. There's a decent restaurant on the bottom floor of the hotel. Hope this helps.

I'm going to NYC in April for 3 nights during the kids vacation week. Thru travelzoo.com I have Affinia Manhattan booked for $159 a night for 1 1 bedroom suite with 2 beds, living room with sofa bed, kitchen and free breakfast for two.

If you are going to see some Broadway shows, try this website. We've had good luck getting discounts through them.

Have fun!
