July will be my second trip to DL. The last one I was on a business trip and just drove from Ontario to DL everyday. Not too day...only 45 minutes usually.

This time I am flying in and spending my Birthday :Pinkbounc weekend (Fri-Mon) so I can catch the 50th celebration one more time.

Here are the hotels I have reserved. One of my friends from back in Minnesota is flying in to meet me, so we need 2 beds. Any opinions would be a great help so I can narrow it down. Thanks in advance for any help. Everyone on here is so awesome when it comes to sharing their wisdom and experiences.
For 2 Queen beds, Non-Smoking

Days Inn...85 a night
Desert Inn..120 a night
Del Sol...120 a night
Carousel...130 a night
HoJo...131 a night (resort view)

THANKS!

Of the hotels you listed I have only stayed at the HoJo. Its a very nice motel, well run, spacious rooms, beautiful grounds, nice pool area (s), and about a 10-15 minute walk to Disneyland depending on how fast you walk. If you click on the top of this thread there is a sticky on Disneyland Resort (DLR) information and hotels. Also, you might check www.tripadvisor.com to read reviews. I am sure there are plenty of reviews on each of those properties. I can tell you that generally the Howard Johnson's usually ranks in the top three of all hotels near Disneyland. Good luck and have a great trip!

Thanks for the reminder about Tripadvisors. I had looked at the maps at the top of the page to get a general feel for the locations. But was not sure if it was worth $100 more for the weekend to Stay at the HoJo -vs- the Days Inn. It seems like it is.

I appreciate the help

Del Sol is NOT worth $120 a night. Desert Inn also is not worth $120 a night. I paid $42 for Del Sol and $59 for Desert Inn, and that is about all I would pay. I think your best deal is HOJO's. Especially with a resort view. You can see the fireworks from your room if you are not at the park. The only down is there is no breakfast available, and it is a little longer walk.

Do they have rooms at Candy Cane Inn? That would be my other choice. If it is comparable to HOJO's, I would choose Candy Cane.

Have a great birthday!

$120 is a bit steep for Del Sol, but it is a nice motel. Large clean rooms. It's a bit quieter as it is set back from the street (behind Denny's), but very close to DL. The pool I thought was over chlorinated, and there aren't really "grounds" to speak of.

Have you checked at Candy Cane? It's very nice. A bit further than Del Sol, but they have a shuttle, and they are on the DL side of Harbor, so you don't have to cross if you walk.

Have you looked at the Park Vue Inn yet? It's very very very close (it's AT the crosswalk on Harbour) and I like it a lot.

If you are interested, I have some promotion codes somewhere, PM me if you need them.

sent you a PM. The Hojo and the Park Vue are exactly the same price. For the amount of time that is spent at the hotel, if one is considerably closer, that might be better money spent.

On a side note, I am also thinking of heading to Long Beach on Sunday to catch a singer by the name of Kevin Wood perform. Heard great things about him. Anyone ever catch him perform before?

Thanks for all the help and early birthday wishes.
