Hotel Check In Question

So we are driving overnight and now my dh is very concerned that we won't be able to check in if we get there earlier then check in... I assured him things will be fine... we are staying at CSR and I am planning on doing check in online... my understanding is that when our room is ready we would get a text... has anyone ever had issues getting a room earlier then check in???

You can certainly check in! Your room might not be ready, but you can activate your Magic Bands/room charging/dining plan and get on with your vacation. They can text you when your room is ready.

OP - If you are given the "bypass the front desk" option when you do on line check in, you can take advantage of that feature and your tickets, dining credits, etc. will all be activated on arrival day automatically. You could skip going to your resort and head straight to a park if you wish. You'll get a text/email with your room number when it becomes available and never have to visit the front desk at all. If you prefer to drop your bags with guest services before heading to a park, you can do that but you still wouldn't need to visit the front desk.

We checked in around 10:30 this past June at CSR. We were totally prepared to not have a room ready for us yet but the check in person radioed someone and got us a room right away. It never hurts to check in early but don't expect the room to be ready. If it is consider it a nice surprise.

Thank you - we don't have plans to go to a park, but are planning to go to Hoop Dee Doo Revue that night...so we should be fine...

Like others have said, if you get the option to do direct-to-room check-in, there's a better chance of your room being ready when you arrive (within reason). We were at AoA in June and I had indicated that we would be arriving at 11:30 and our priority was to have a room ready upon arrival over our other requests. We got a text at 10:15 indicating our room was ready (and got all of our room requests).

They have a checkbox where you can say arrival time is more important than room request. You can pick the behavior now. It defaults to room request.

You can check in as early as 7:00 AM. Since you are driving and not spending the day in a park, make sure you have a bag readily available with swim gears or relaxing clothes so if the room isn't ready, you can sit by the pool (I'd go with a quiet pool) and relax.
