DF and I are thinking of taking his 2 neices and nephew to Orlando later this year for a max of 2 weeks. This will be the first time all of us have been to Orlando.

We want to take them to the main Disney parks, as well as Universal and a little bit of shopping. Now we know we can not fit everything in, in 2 weeks. We are planning to go at the kids pace (12, 10 and 8), so it is possible all they will want to do is spend 2 weeks at WDW or the hotel pool! That said there are a few things DF and I want to do - go shopping and eat at IHOP.

Now where I need your help is where would you suggest staying? We are torn between splitting the stay between a WDW hotel and a universal hotel. Or getting something halfway.

Now at this point we are unsure about if we will hire a car or not. If we are staying offsite then we will hire a car simply due to ease. If we are on site then is there any point??

What would you suggest? Offsite, or a split stay? Where did you stay last time you were there?

At present we are debating about staying at Animal Kingdom / Hard Rock, or possibly Waldof Astoria. Although finding a nice resort halfway might be better.

If you are not going to hire a car I would do a split stay between Disney and Universal.

I would suggest one of the All stars hotels or Caribbean beach resort and then either one of the Universal hotels or one on International Drive with free buses to Universal and shopping with the I drive bus:thumbsup2
