I'm going to try to remember to go on the Disneyland Chat tonight, but the timing isn't great for an East Coaster who gets up at 5am.

I am booked at the Grand Californian (Concierge level) for the Disneyland Half Marathon. I'm flying in one night before my reservation starts (I booked the flight after I made the reservation). I'll be on my own the first night (my CA family will be there starting Friday), so I'm trying to decide where to stay that first night. If I get a room at the Grand Californian, will they put me in the concierge room, even if I just book a regular room? If I'm going to have to change rooms anyway, should I book a cheaper room at Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier? Or go even cheaper and book off-site, for just the first night? I've already booked APEE for Friday morning, so I won't lose the early entry.

I'm bumping to see if anyone has any suggestions. I've only stayed off-site twice (the first two Disneyland Half marathons) and the hotel I stayed in is no longer run by the same company, so I'm hoping someone with experience can offer suggestions, either way. Thanks!

You could end up in the same room. CL is just added to a reservation and doesn't always determine which room you will get. Being that you are there a night early, during the week, there are probably a lot of open rooms and this should help in keeping the same room for the extra night. I wouldn't suggest getting CL on the night you alone because the perks are of more value when mulitple people can use them.

It may be nice to try another hotel, Disney or Not. The downside will be going to EE, checking out and hauling your stuff to the GCH to check in on Friday morning.

Thank you! I thought CL was a certain set of rooms. It's probably worth it to stay there the first night, then. I've stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, but not Paradise Pier, so I was thinking it might be interesting to stay there.
