We just returned home to the Great White North of CT from 2 week stays at home resorts of WLV and BWV. And I got to tell all of you fellow members to start complaining as we did.

First at WLV. The Hot Tub at near the quiet pool was not Hot. In fact it wasn't warm, it was cold. So was the quiet pool. So we called maintance the first day, and nothing happened. The second day we complained, and nothing happened, so we walked over to the Hot Tubs by the Lodge. They were at least warm, but one was not working properly. The air nozzles were removed so one area of the tub gat all the preasurized water, and the rest of the tub got NOTHING. On the third day, we decided to just use the quiet pool, and as luck had it, a supervisor came to check out the pool, and we told him about the Hot Tub problems. Well the next morning the Hot Tub by the quiet pool has HOT !, but that was it....by afternoon it was back to warm, and by evening, it was cold again and remained that way for the rest of the week.

Second week we moved to BWV. Similar problem. At least the Hot Tubs were hot when we arrived, but by the 4th day, they were cold. We were getting so disillusioned that we didn't bother to call anymore.

I don't know about you, but we sure look forward to sipping a few cocktails sitting in those hot tubs after putting up with winter up here. I don't know what our maintance fees are going toward, but somthing is going on. Either they are trying to save money by turning off the heat, or they aren't maintaing things like they should.

For all members who were at either resort from March 11th to the 24th, PLEASE complain as we did, and help get things right again!!

I'm sorry to hear this. There has been a discussion going on here about cold pools at WDW, but this is the first I've heard that some of the hot tubs are also a problem.

If you haven't seen it already, you may want to put on a wetsuit and wade through the cold pools topic: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1055807. Several of us have sent emails to DVC and WDW Guest Communications about this. The first response we all received from DVC is shown in a couple of posts in that thread. Here is the second response we all got from Carli A. D'Agostino, the DVC Member Satisfaction Manager: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=12017173&postcount=461

I encourage you to send email to the two email addresses listed in this post: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=11888461&postcount=39

Interesting!!! It wasn't working at the BWV back during Presidents' week either. I'm not much of a hot tub person but my BIL loves it. It was too cold for him and he made sure that management knew about it. He was told that it was broken and they were waiting to get it fixed.

Has anyone used it between Presidents' week and when DVCDAVE used the hot tub at the BWV?

Guess we need to start calling them "Warm" Tubs.

Hmmmm. Does that mean that the pool at SSR is now Not-So-High Rock Springs?

LisaS, Thanks for the two threads, I read them. I also noticed that the first post was 3/13/2006. We were at WLV on 3/11/2006 to 3/18/2006, and BWV from 3/18/2006 to the 24th.

We need to be noisy to DVC about this problem. We considered the Hot Tubs and resort atmosphere a major factor in our DVC purchase. This is unexceptable and I don't consider a resort a resort, unless the Hot Tubs work, and the pool to be a reasonable tempature.

I have no problem with Disney keeping the pool temps down in the winter, especially if its 50 degrees out, hardly anyone swims anyway. But the hot tubs!!

Here in CT we are in the hot tub all winter, after dinner before bed, the entire family jumps in, doesn't matter if its 5 degrees out, its a great feeling.

Has anyone gotten a straight answer as to why the temps are down, could they be switching how they are heated?? Gas, propane, electric???? that is what I am hoping, but we willl see.

In early January, the hot tubs at VWL were HOT, and the pool was nice.

Thanks for the report. That really stinks. Who wants to sit in a cold, or even warm hot tub??

We got very little information from the maintance supervisor. He said that the hot tubs are not heated locally (near the pool). Rather the hot water comes from another location. He also said that they are aware that people steal the nozzles from the hot tubs as "Disney Souvinears", and it takes time for maintance to notice, and order new ones.

I don't get it. We pay for the upkeep. If somethings broken I want it fixed. I pay for it to be fixed. I only get X amount of vacation time and I want things to be close to perfect when I am on it. I can deal with the hot tub being broken one day. No problem. But for a week?!? Is Disney Maintenance taking care of the Disney propertys first and then the DVC propertys? Why are they turning the pool temperature down when we pay for the heating. Crank it up as high as you want it. I'll pay the extra 2 cents per point it'll cost all of us. No problem!!

Boy, I've heard of "Souvenears" before-antenna toppers, snow globes, tee shirts. Somehow this has just never occured to me (sort of like taking off with furniture). What a shame people would do this!

Sounds like someone is making up excuses, We were at SSR right after they opened and the hot tubs were turned off late at night. We like to hit them at the end of the day/night sometimes 2am. Noticed that about DCL also, all the hot tubs closed at midnight. We have one at home and it stays at 104, max temp on newer tubs. I can't enjoy a hot tub in the daylight with little ones jumping in and splashing . A drink, some stars and nice hot water :cloud9:

I know both hot tubs at the BWV are on timers. I believe I saw a timer on the one at the quiet pool at WLV too, over near the phone. But I think we all know the temerature issue has nothing to do with the timers.

We just got back from SSR yesterday and the pool at Congress was warm!! and the pool was cold!! We could not stay in the Hot "warm" Tubs because all the kids were using it as a pool. The pool was ice cold. I was very disappointed in it. It was are first stay at SSR and we had friends with us that we hoped would be interested in DVC. They were not impressed with the cold pool and warm hot tub.

Just my two cents,
debbie

There's an interesting conclusion to be drawn in here somewhere, but I just can't seem to put my finger on it...

what i was saying was if Orlando's average temp for the week is below 60, then why heat the pools up to 82 degrees if hardly anyone is swimming?? giant wasit of resources!

I would hope before they just turned them down, they did some sort of study to see if people do swim if its cold out? I know if I was home and it was 60 degrees out, I wouldn't be swimming, not sure if it was 70 I would be swimming, but I would defintely be in the hot tub no matter what temp it was! And they should be kept HOT!!!!!!

With all due respect, I noticed an awful lot of "I"s in your post. And that's fine if those are the things you would or wouldn't choose to do. But there are other members who would swim - if the pools were heated appropriately - so I don't think it's fair to say because "I" wouldn't swim, then it doesn't matter whether the pools are heated or not. But keep those DVC penny-pinching hands off of the hot-tubs or there will be trouble! :)

I'm not picking on you, just trying to point out that DVC members have many different ideas of how to maximize their vacations... and they are not going to be the same for everyone.

The problem with that approach is that the air temps at WDW can fluctuate quite a bit over the course of just one week. When we were there for 6 nights in late January, the highs for the week varied from the mid 60s to low 80s! So there might not be that many weeks in the year where the highs for the entire week would be in the low 60s or cooler.

Also, if they didn't heat the pools on the cooler days, it's not clear to me that they could quickly get the pools up to swimmable temps on the days the air temps were in the mid 70s to low 80s.

This is one of the reasons I love going in late August. It's so darn hot, even at night, the pools feel good no matter what!

Also, we visited Nov 5-13 this past year, and stayed at Caribbean Beach. The hot tub (of which there is only one for the entire resort!!) was broken all 3 times we tried to use it, in the beginning, middle and end of the week. So it's not just DVC. Boy, was I peeved, cause it's cool at night in Nov.
