Hot off the presses, DS pin update!

Just got off the phone with my SM and she says a memo just came in today that the pins will be limited to 2 per style per person... BUT WAIT, that is only for the initial opening crowd, once the opening line has been taken care of and the pin buying calms back down, you may purchase more. Disney is trying to get to as many people as possible
Also, still no phone holds and charge sends over the phone won't be done if in store guests exceed the number of pins on hand-- ie in store guests first THEN phone orders ( not holds) can be taken,.....
It also says that AFTER the initial opening crowds/lines are served then pins can be taken from behind the cash wrap and put on to racks....... pins are not supposed to be out in theopen at first---

I called the store I will be visiting in Knoxville TN tomorrow and they confirmed that they would only sell 2 per guest! This is good news for those of us just interested in collecting a set!!!!

Thank goodness!!! Maybe I won't have to wear my armor after all.....well, maybe I'll keep it in the car just in case

This is excellent news MOSTLY, but it will be a problem for people who can't be there one week and have asked others to pick up pins for them (like I have to for the week I'm in WDW - need 2 sets, one for each kid). Bet many, many others are in this boat! I suppose I'll have to ask family members to get up early and stand on line an hour at their nearest store (this is tough to ask, since they just won't "get it.") Any other suggestions?

OK I am just kidding - I do pins solo - family wouldn't stand in another line after August. But who wants to lay odds Mom or Dad drags the 3 year old to TDS.

Since I had to stand and wait while the clerk took 4 orders for holds WHILE still ringing up my order..It also held up everyone behind me, including the fourth lady in line who couldn't make up a whole set since so many had been "held"..I did report that store for holding when they were told not to..maybe this contributed to the memo released today?..I will be there bright and early..and hopefully first in line again for the third week in a row..to get my 2 sets..it's still going to be an awfully long 12 weeks more to collect this whole set!

That car story is not too far from the truth. I was just at DL and someone told me that a family stood in line for the Tinkerbell pin, amoung the 5 of them, they were able to get 25 pins of a LE of 2001. I've pretty much given up trying to get the "hot" LE's there.

I'm glad they are limiting it. I always read the boards, so if there is no rush here in CA, I'll see about getting another set to help out others.

It is impossible for the handicapped to get these pins with the current policy. With no phone ins we are basically shut out of these pins except to by them on ebay or the secondary market. When is Disney going to make pin trading equal access?

Lisa, have you talked to the Disney Store manager on duty in the morning before/when they open the store? It sounds like the guests waiting for the store to open are not polite, thoughtful, whatever. I don't think Disney is purposely making it impossible for handicapped guests to buy pins.

It is was up to the Disney Store manager I would have had my pins. But she can do nothing about people walking in front of the wheelchair to get in the door. And with 250 pounds of chair plus my weight I have to hang back so I don't clip peoples ankles. I broke my poor daughter's toe when I first got the chair because I was too close and ran over her foot. Poor baby.
