Hostage Standoff In Kissimmee on 192 - UPDATE - IT May Be Over!

There is currently a situation occurring on 192 near I-4 in Kissimmee. Bank robbers are holding hostages. It is a very high tourist area. Tourists and stores in the area have been evacuated. Traffic in the area is at a stand still. The standoff has been going on since just after the bank opened this morning. Pray that the hostages are released unharmed!

Update - The male suspect went to another car. When he tried to move it, its tires blew. The police had placed stopsticks by all of the vehicles in the parking lot. They appear to have the male suspect in handcuffs. They haven't said whether the female suspect is in custody or whether the hostage has been released.

Swat team is moving out and crime scene officers are moving in. Still no word on the female suspect and the female hostage, but it appears that the situation has been resolved.

Latest - The male suspect is dead. The female suspect is injured. The hostage is safe.

Believe it or not, this is the second "incident" on 192 in two days. Yesterday there was a high-speed chase that ended in a suicide.

Geez, I am beginning to wonder why we moved here last week! (At least the weather is nice!)

One of those happened when I was living there, as well. But it had a very tragic ending.

It is quite a ways from WDW property.

It can't be thar far away, they just panned over to EE at AK and it didn't appear that they zoomed in either.

I just got off the phone with DD, they are staying right there! They are at OrangeLake Resort! She said they have been watching it on TV, and are staying inside.

It's the Mercantile Bank on 192 and Black Lake Rd about 1 mile from WDW.
One hostage has been released and there are 2 suspects inside.
The standoff is now in the forth hour and counting. Traffic has been re routed and the Osceola County sherriff has now brought a tank in and the whole area is sealed off.

That is true. It is fairly close to AK and AKL. I was thinking of the other entrances.

That must have been what the 5 or 6 helicopters were for that we saw yesterday when leaving Disney.

Tell me about it!! I'm only 1 1/2 miles from there and this morning I was leaving MK around 10:30 and got caught up in the traffic. Took me almost an hour to get home, it usually takes me less then 5 min to get to Black Lake road.
I've only been here 6 months but man! this is nuts!!!!
