I am thinking that there have to be a ton more hoseheads on the disboards. I just started cpap(looked for a hose type smile could not find one). For those of you who wonder what a hosehead is its those of us that have to wear cpap gear at night. Mine makes me look like I was in a war or like I am in the icu?!? I wondered what type of masks people are using, since I am having problems with mine and have to wait until Thursday to get a new one to try.

Maybe we can use this as a place to come and vent and talk about the joys of cpap! I have to be 100% committed to the therapy, my case is beyond severe and I do not want to even think of the other choices!

Hosehead since July 6th!

Well, not me, but my DH wears a c-pap. He uses the "nasal pillows". He could not get comfortable with the face mask. Still looks wierd. :rotfl:

Thats the type I am trying to get, but cant get until Thursday, mine has left a huge sore on my nose after the three nights, its rubbing under it! I think the nasal pillows will help. How do you sleep with it on? Does it bother you?

Being a hosehead isnt attractive or easy! LOL

I have a full face mask since I am a mouth breather. If I am lucky, I keep it on for 3 - 4 hours. After that, I take it off. It is too hot in addition to hot flashes.

Thanks for posting that link NHAnn! I'm the OP of the Sleep Apnea thread on the C&C board.

I've tried several different masks and for me (and the pressure of my CPAP machine) they are uncomfortable. I get sore from the pressure directly in my nose and went back to the regular "full" nasal mask. There is some discomfort from that one as well, but for me, it goes away so quickly that I don't even notice it.

Come on over to our thread and share your experiences!

I am still searching for the perfect mask...I know it's out there somewhere...

Goodness I didnt even think about heat. I have only had a few days at wearing the mask, mine is nose only, but I have been opening my mouth close to the morning so I may need one. If not guess I will try the chin straps:( LOL

I use the Mirage Swift Nasal Pillows and love them.

I started out with a nose mask and it wasn't comfortable and was leaving a permanent mark on my forehead and the bridge of my nose.

I found the swift very comfortable and easy to use. It comes will all sizes of pillows and is really easy to care for. It leaves some strap marks when I get up but they fade quickly.

I will be checking out the C&C section soon.

Good luck and don't get discouraged. You will get used to it and this machine is a god send.

I've been a "hosehead" for almost 3 years now, and the best equipment I've found so far are also the Mirage Swift Nasal Pillows. I've been through 2 masks and one other nasal pillow system that I didn't like. I just started using the MSNP a month ago, and it's far superior than anything else I've used, especially since I'm a side sleeper.

Hoseheads unite!
